We’ve been meaning to feature the mesmerizing works of Takahiro Komuro for quite some time now, and what with his latest solo show, DYSTOPIA, opening it’s doors just a couple of weeks back, we thought now was a good a time as any to take a look at one of his best creations to date. Entitled “Doublethink”, a reference to the reverse thinking needed to survive [Komuro’s] dystopian Japan, the jaw-dropping figure takes inspiration from a diverse range of subjects including neo-kaiju, Garabage Pail Kids and even George Orwell’s epic, 1984. Pictured here as a beautifully painted one-off for the show, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a full release soon- the recently posted wip shots on Komuro’s IG feed certainly look promising!
