A reboot that’s been almost 8 years in the making, Nakajima’s iconic sofubi line Astro-Mu 5 will once again see the light of day this week courtesy of Super7! A huge inspiration for some of the most highly sought after sofubi around at the moment – Paul Kaiju’s Mr REE and Ilu Ilu’s Tokio Supernova in particular – the classic 70’s soft vinyl line consisted of a core group of 6 humanoid figures, each coming complete with removable helmets, gloves and boots, and featuring a neat “nodding” function with the press of a button on the chest. Whilst this first round of figures WON’T be based on these 9” designs, the 3 figures up for grabs – Earth, Mars and Jupiter – have been taken from the accompanying mini series, standing at around 4” tall and coming in 2-parts.
