MAN-E-NEWS// The “Gay Empire” and “Sucklord” Star Convoy sofubi from Star Case x Suckadelic x DKE Toys…

Having had sellout success with their “Super Hero” SDCC exclusives a few months back, art toy distributor DKE Toys has once again teamed up with Japanese Star Wars aficionados Star Case for another special release, this time taking on the Suckadelic universe in Star Convoy form! Comprising of 2 different figures; a “Gay Empire” rendition of stormtrooper knock-off Dester Commando in hot pink vinyl, and the Scum Hunter (aka Boba Fett) painted up in the Sucklord’s classic grey jumpsuit; we’re guessing they’ll be making their debut exclusively at Designer Con ’15 next month. Look out for the for lowdown over the next few weeks…

MAN-E-NEWS// The “Black” Kohai resin kaiju from UnaffiliatedSJ…

Teased right here early last week, the “Kohai” resin kaiju from UnaffiliatedSJ will be making it’s debut in just under an hours time! Said to be inspired by Godzilla’s son “Manilla”, the beautifully sculpted figure is set to play side kick to the artist’s previousluy released Creature-X, featuring an altogether more stout (and short) frame at around 6.5″ tall and coming with 8 fully articulated parts that will be swappable with future releases. Produced in an unpainted black resin exclusive to this debut release, look out for the super-limited figure in the UnaffiliatedSJ store at 12pm Pacific time (10/16) for just $45 plus shipping…

Singapore-based artist Daniel Yu has just unveiled a whole slew of new figures that’ll be touching down in his online store in just a few minutes time! Featuring the return of Gourdlike, Jiangshi Acolyte, Wilbur and more in a selection of blank and painted colorways – including Daniel’s signature “Unicorn Barf” – these are joined by Daniel’s latest (and quite possibly greatest!) figure, the Lunar Creep. Priced between $20-$60 a piece depending on size and finish, be sure to head on over to the store come 10am Eastern time today to pick up one of the many awesome pieces on offer…

Dennis Hamann of Shirahama Toy has just unveiled a special Kuumon release just in time for Halloween! Featuring a limited number of the spider kaiju in a marbled mix of seasonal black and orange glitter infused vinyl, each 5.5″ tall figure comes packed unassembled in a plastic jack o lantern. Hong Kong based toy retailer Angel Abby have just secured yet another exclusive for their store, the “Mini Thirteen” sofubi from Rumble Monsters! Standing at around 3.5″ tall, the simple 2-part ‘bot sculpt has been produced in a sleek transparent red vinyl for the release, coming complete with minimal orange and silver masked sprays. MAN-E-NEWS// Rampage Toys’ latest “Kaibutsuya” sofubi teased…

Having had continued success with Kesagake over the past year, Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys is pleased to announce that the second figure in the ongoing “Kaibutsuya” (Giant Monster Animal Shop) series will be up for grabs soon! Whilst Kesagake was based on the infamous Sankebetsu Brown Bear of Hokkaido Higuma – who was subsequently killed after the worst bear attack in Japanese history – it would appear from the “revenge” stamp pictured that this is actually the same bear, albeit with some neat “mecha” additions to fight off those pesky Higuma settlers once and for good! Pictured here in pink test shot form, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the as-yet-untitled grizzly makes its debut at Designer Con ’15 next month…

Famed for her beautiful custom Calavera dolls, artist Kat Caro of Melancholy Kitties has turned her talents towards Paul Kaiju‘s Mr Ree sofubi for a special limited run release! Based on the one-off custom Kat created earlier in the year (check it out here), the 5.5″ tall figures have been produced in a vanilla colored vinyl with subtle pink sprays and brushed details, each coming clothed in a glorious hand stitched bunny suit. Touching down in the Melancholy Kitties store on Sunday, October 18th at 9pm EST, pricing and edition size for the rather aptly titled “Fluffbun” Rees are still to be confirmed…

MAN-E-NEWS// The “JunKing” wax sofubi protos from Imps and Monsters revealed…

Originally teased way back in April, the “JunKing” totem sofubi from Imps and Monsters has finally made it to the wax prototype stage this week! Loosely based on the new “Imp Lands” card game of the same name (available for preorder through Kickstarter right here), the absoilutely adorable set featuring a number of familiar animals, riders and artifacts that can be stacked in pairs or altogether in a similar way to Tim Clarke’s Totims. Currently being produced by Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the little guys make their first appearance at Designer Con ’15 next month… Stay tuned for the full lowdown soon!

Said to be the friend of the previously released “Neo Japan”, the lumbering cyborg – originally realised in garage kit form – has been reimagined by RESTORE’s Abe Junnokai, standing at little over 8″, coming with 8 points of articulation and featuring clear cutaway sections in the stomach and on the head as well as a fully removable “rocket” arm. Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has just revealed that he’ll be playing host to a very special release later on this week, the Splurrt “Cadaver Twins” run from Marmit and SkullHeadButt‘s Akamatsu-San! Whilst we have very little to go on at present, it would appear the drop will feature a number of one-off painted Cadaver Twins from the legendary sofubi producer, including the gruesome example you see above. Making an appearance in the Rampage Toys web store at 10am Japan time this Friday, October 16th, pricing and edition size are still to be confirmed…

Debuting at Taipei Toy Festival ’15 last weekend, the latest S”K”UM-kun colorway from punk band Suicidal Tendencies and BlackBook Toy – dubbed the “Supervillain” edition – will be up for grabs online later this week! Created as the mascot for the now defunct toy shop ZacPac back in 2011, the figure – loosely based on ST frontman Mike Muir – has been resurrected by Blackbook with a number of interesting refinements in tow, including new decal designs, plus hands that now sit behind the figure signing “SxTx”. Produced in a white soft vinyl complete with hand threaded neon green hair, the figure has been treated to a selection of purple, red, green and black sprays inspired by Batman’s arch nemesis, the Joker. Heavily inspired by Kinnikuman’s obscure knock-off figures, the pachi-style keshi has been hand sculpted by Kuidaore at an authetically scaled 2″ tall, coming factory produced in a flesh-tone, keshi-style rubber. With the incredible support it received upon debuting back in June, the Atomic Kong set from KT Toy is set to return this month in an all-new colorway! Featuring the original Atomic Kong mini – first released way back in the 1970’s – the 4.7″ figure is joined by an authentically realised “Giant” version, coming in at massive 12″ tall and featuring articulation in the neck, arms and waist. Produced in what appears to be a flesh tone soft vinyl this time around, the pair have been treated to deep brown, pink and black sprays with white brushed detailing over a detail hugging rub. MAN-E-NEWS// Alien Robot Monster’s “Monsterex” keshi revealed…

Finally bowing to the requests of his legions of fans, A.R.M (Alien Robot Monster) is proud to reveal that his debut toy “Monsterex” has been reduced down to M.U.S.C.L.E size for a special keshi release! Directly inspired by one of the many foes found in the classic TMNT Adventures comics, the ingenious mix of Universal Monsters – including elements from the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankentstein’s Monster, the Mummy and Dracula – has been perfectly realised in 2″ keshi-form, coming digitally sculpted in Z-Brush, 3D printed and then cast in a rubbery resin by A.R.M. Due to be making its first appearance in the pictured “M.U.S.C.L.E flesh” alongside 2 other colorways in the new A.R.M store soon, be sure to stay tuned for the full lowdown over the next couple of weeks…

Featuring both “Human Face” and “Skull” designs this time around, the 8″ tall, 2-part homage to one of Japan’s creepiest urban legends has been produced in a bright yellow soft vinyl this time around, coming with hand threaded hair as well as neon green, orange, black and silver Tokyo-style sprays inspired by Bullmark’s classic 70’s Hedorah colorway. Limited to just 10 pieces in each design, the “Tokyo” Jinmenken are currently up for grabs via 24 hour lottery, priced at $100 each plus shipping. Following the huge success of his debut figure “YouZha”, Chinese toy artist Kearjun is proud to reveal that he already had a new vinyl monster waiting in the wings… presenting GooDon! Heavily inspired by Bemon’s iconic “2-Headed” kaiju, which in turn, was inspired by Famous Monsters of Filmland’s 1968 “Jack the Giant Killer” cover, the towering 2-faced figure has been designed and sculpted by Kearjun, standing at around 10″ tall and featuring 6 points of articulation. Due to be making its debut at Designer Con next month, expect to see artist releases similar to YouZha to follow soon after…
