MAN-E-NEWS// The “Independence Day” Despair mini figure from Adam Quesnell x Stand Up Records…
“Despair is a demon from the 10th Circle of Hell; the level where people who make bad cinematic adaptations of classic toy properties are flayed for eternity. Not your average demon, Despair suffers from severe anxiety disorder and crippling depression. Satan himself even banished Despair from Hell for being a major bummer…
Cast out upon the earth in a fiery geyser of lava and tears, Despair landed in the parking lot of a comedy club that was hosting a weekly open mic night. Despair put his name on the sign-up sheet, got on stage, and told his story. Since then, he has been punishing himself, night after night, on comedy stages of varying quality throughout the Midwest. He dances and lashes himself for audiences with hopes of selling t-shirts and CDs to drunk people who will not wear or listen to them.”
Having seen exclusive Valentines Day and Tenacious Toy exclusives earlier in the year, the debut figure from comedian and avid toy collector Adam Quesnell – DESPAIR – is finally set to return for a special Independence Day release for all you PATRIODIOTS out there! Originally created to celebrate the release of his album “Can We Afford This Much Despair?” on Stand Up! Records, Adam teamed up with illustrator Terence Brown II, October Toys, and our very own Tru:Tek of the Disart Toylabs to bring this sad little guy to life. Standing at around 3″ of 100% UV resistant rubber, the super squishy figure was designed by Terrance and sculpted by the OT team, this time around coming cast in a patriotic red, white and blue marble by Tru:Tek of the Disart Toylabs… Touching down in Adam’s store on Saturday, July 4th at 17.76pm (6.16pm!) Eastern time, the figure has been limited to just 5 this time around, each coming packed with a download code for Adam’s album for just $25 each shipped in the US…

Keep a close eye on the Paul Kaiju Instagram feed here for more news on this interesting project soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// Splurrt’s “Puppoo the Evil Unchi” sofubi proto revealed…
Sometimes bad dogs make bad poops. When neglected the perfect mix of elements, fertilizers, pollutants, air born pathogens, etc. can cause the bacteria to mutate, creating… Puppoo the Evil Unchi! Inspired by the past 6 months of walking his new puppy – and presumably cleaning up some mutant turds in its wake – the latest sculpt from Secretoy’s Splurrt offers up his take on the hilarious “unchi” monster. Whilst very little is known about the figure at present, the 2 part design would suggest that the scale is most likely in-line with the artist’s previous mini-mid sized work at around 3″ tall. MAN-E-NEWS// The “Cestoda” sofubi preorder from Miscreation Toys x Toy Art Gallery…
It’s been months in the offing, but the gargantuan “Cestoda” sofubi from Miscreation Toys and Toy Art Gallery is finally here! Designed by Miscreation’s Jeremi Rimel, digitally sculpted by iamscumbag and produced in a Japanese soft vinyl courtesy of TAG, the huge figure stands at an impressive 14″ tall and the same wide, coming complete with a whopping 10 points of articulation. Currently up for grabs right here via open preorder until July 2nd, both unpainted red and charcoal grey versions can be yours for just $175 each plus shipping…
Here’s a little of Cestoda’s backstory from Miscreation Toys’ Jeremi Rimel:
“A blue whale is found beached near Santa Monica Pier. During the necropsy a giant creature emerges from the whale carcass carrying a brood of eggs clustered on its hulking back. It can use any living thing as a host, piercing into them with its spiky tail and inserting eggs. And now it has humans for incubation vessels.
The military step in to contain the infected zones and hunt down the rapidly growing creature. But the monster is resilient. It has large sharp claws and the glands within its tail spray a potent, foul slime that induces a paralyzing effect. Bullets pierce the creature’s segmented cuticle flesh to little or no effect. The military attempt to capture it with more advanced weaponry.
Marine biologists nickname the creature “Cestoda” as it’s biological traits resemble those found in tapeworm parasites. They theorize the invasive species originated deep within the Earth and was introduced to the sea following a recent earthquake that rocked the coast of northern California. They believe the beached whales fed upon deep sea creatures that were infested with the parasite.
While the military tracks Cestoda, scientists race to discover a solution and stop the spread of the parasite. If they fail, Earth will eventually be purged of every living creature- including mankind!”
