Teased here a couple of months back, the official, 2000ad licensed “Zombo” figure from Retroband and Unbox Industries will be making a limited debut during international Comic Book Day today (5/2)! Based on the human-zombie hybrid originally created by Al Ewing and Henry Flint, the character – a star of his own series in 2000AD that ran until 2013 – has been redesigned by Retroband’s Aaron Moreno and digitally sculpted by the team at Unbox. Standing at around 3.75″ tall, the vinyl action figure has been produced in a mix of “blank” classic and blue GID for this first run, with a fully painted and blister carded version planned for general release soon after. Unfortunately only available in the UK, the GID Zombos will be touching down at London’s Forbidden Planet later on today for an undisclosed sum… Look out for more on the official release over the coming weeks!
MAN-E-NEWS// The Siryosei Expo exclusive “Snack Pack” sofubi minis from Rampage Toys…
Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has revealed that he’ll be exhibiting at Mandarake‘s Siryosei Expo in Nakano, Tokyo, this Sunday, bringing along a whole host of one-off customs and painted runs… including this rather awesome “Snack Pack” sofubi mini set! Featuring both male and female Hokkaido settler omake from Rampage’s highly sought after Kesagake sofubi, the 3″ tall, 2-part figures have been produced in a flesh-toned vinyl this time around, featuring a mix of black, brown, pink, white and blue hand painted detailing. Packed in an authentic “snack foods” box with a header designed by Walter P, each set comes with an all-new holographic sticker created by Bikkuriman enthusiast Kanayama-san. Edition size is still to be confirmed at present, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that at least a couple sets remain for online sales early next week…

Continuing his onslaught of releases this year, Paul Kaiju has just revealed details for this weekend’s surprise “Poison Touch” Mockbat raffle! What has got to be one of the most eye catching painted runs of the 6″ beast so far, the stunning figure has been cast up in a bright orange soft vinyl, coming with an explosion of vivid metallic purple, green and black sprays. With the success of both Jamira and Aboras tucked firmly under his belt, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys has been given the green light on 2 more figures for his ongoing Ultra Kaiju series, taking on the mighty Red King and Pigumon! Taken from classic tokusatsu show Ultaman, the official, Tsuburaya-licensed figures have been sculpted by Jon in-scale with the previous 2 releases at around 5″ tall each; with Red King featuring the original UK Aboras body topped with an all-new head sculpt, whilst Pigumon – complete with his infamous balloon! – having been created from the ground up. Due to make their debut via open preorder at Design Fiesta in just a couple of weeks time, expect a full, painted reveal of the pair very soon…

Teased here just last week, the first of Blurble‘s latest Ooze-It themed toy – the “OozeOozeOoze” foam ball – is now up for grabs! Inspired by cult gross-out line “Madballs”, Shigeru Arai’s highly sought after “NagNagNag” ball, and more recently, The Disarticulators’ “Oozeball”, the awesomely oozey piece has been sculpted in-scale at around 3.5″ across, coming cast in a squishy paintable foam similar to the original 80’s balls. With only a very limited amount produced, Blurble will be offering the balls up as unique one-off customs that will be sold via auction on his Instagram feed. Rather aptly translating from French as “Brother Devil” – the nickname given to notorious Neapolitan guerrilla leader Michele Pezza – the stunning MOTU-scaled piece has been meticulously kit-bashed and re-sculpted from various vintage action figures, this time coming cast in a selection of mixed-part clear tinted resin for just $50 a piece… Next we have the latest edition of Healey’s highly popular Toil and Trouble. Having interned with Peter Kato back in 2013 and released his debut figure, the “Big Top” late last year, Kevin Nam over at Inami Toyland is proud to reveal his latest resin creation… the Robo Top! Coming in at a more streamlined and refined 2″ tall by 2″ wide, the fully working, hand sculpted spinning top features an ingenious “rock, paper, scissors” style mechanic similar to Big Top, with each of the robots hands (clenched, 2 fingers up and 3 fingers up) representing the game’s 3 choices.
