Next up, we have the return of Comet Debris’ latest figure, the Micronauts-inspired “Electric Boy”. MAN-E-NEWS// GNOSIS x Monster Island x Pop Soda’s “Goon Squad” resin prototypes revealed…
Originally teased here earlier in the week, the “Goon Squad” mega collab from GNOSIS, Monster Island and Pop Soda had just been revealed in-full! Unlike originally thought, the previously posted sculpts WON’T be used for a Madball-style release, but are in fact heads for a series of full-size, Rat Fink inspired figures! Loosely based on the (sadly canned) E-Ball-A figure revealed a while back, the trio – Electric Finkinstein, Shroom Goon and Pop Soda – have been sculpted by GNOSIS’ Grizlli Atom, coming in at around 8″ tall with articulation in both the arms and head. Prototyped in a white, black rubbed resin by Monster Island for a limited release at the GNOSIS group show at TAG tomorrow (4/18), we’re told to expect the gang in soft vinyl courtesy of Pop Soda later in the year. Continuing his onslaught of releases over the next few weeks, Alex Gavryushenko over at New York-based apparel and toy brand Psycho Scimitar has just revealed the latest creation to hit is store, the awesome “Prosciutto- Batto- Volcano” wooden figure! Standing at an impressive 11″ tall with a 12″ wing span, the eye-catching piece comes hand cut, screen printed and fitted with articulation in the head and arms. As per usual, Rampage Toys‘ Jon Malmstedt has revealed that he’ll be going all out for Superfestival 68 next weekend, bringing along a whole heap of original sofubi, painted micro-runs and one-off custom releases- the first of which coming in the form of these drop-dead gorgeous Rotten-X’s! Featuring the Triclops designed/Zectron sculpted “Rotten Tomato” ball as a head, the b-movie “X” body figure has been jointly produced by Rampage Toys and Skull Head Butt, standing at around 9″ tall and coming with 5 points of articulation. Once again produced in a milky soft vinyl infused with red glitter, the piece has been treated to layers of Hawaii-style pink, gold, metallic teal and green sprays with numerous hand painted details. Available at the Rampage Toys booth (#a13) alongside a ton of other soon-to-be-released goodies next Sunday, April 26th, any leftover will be heading to the Rampage online store the following day… Look out for details on a special ToyCon UK exclusive variant early next week!

Following the success of Teresa Chiba’s Kibunadon, Mark Nagata over at Max Toy Co has revealed that another 2 designs from last year’s Kaiju Gals competition have made the transition into soft vinyl and will be up for grabs soon! Featuring “Kaiju Kinora” (the Mushroom Monster) from Kaori Hinata and “Kaiju Nemuke” from Hikari Bambi, the pair have been sculpted by none other than Makino-san of TTToys, coming in-scale with previous “Monster Boogie” figures at around 3″ tall. Pictured here in a stunning green soft vinyl, we can only assume that the duo will be debuting in this color at Superfestival 68 next Sunday, April 26th. But that’s not all… One of the original “Monster Boogie” figures, Saikobi, is set to return in upscaled “Ultimate” form! Based on legendary cartoonist Fletcher Hanks’ 1939 superhero of the same name, the stunning, vintage-styled figure has been meticulously sculpted in the artist’s bizarre, compelling style, coming it at around 8″ of articulated Japanese soft vinyl. Coming packed with a Hanks-inspired mini comic written and illustrated by Benjamin Marra, the figure will be up for preorder through Eagle Eye Prime as soon as this coming Friday, April 24th. Originally unveiled way back in July of last year, the Devilman-inspired sofubi series from DeathCat Toys and Toy Art Gallery has finally been revealed in all it’s glory! Featuring a total of 3 different characters – the mini “Psycho Sophie” and “Owlene”, plus the mid-large sized Akumaneko – the trio have been designed by DeathCat’s Johan Ulrich and sculpted by Grizlli Atom of Gnosis Toys, with production taken care of by TAG. Due to be making their debut at the GNOSIS group show at TAG this coming Saturday, April 18th, a limited supply of unpainted white casts as well as a number of custom hand paints from DeathCat will be up for grabs- here’s hoping a few make it to the online store soon after!

Justin Hillgrove aka Imps and Monsters has been hard at work gearing up for his latest sofubi release, the “JunKing” totem-style set! Still in the early stages at present, it would appear that the series is loosely based on the new Imp Lands card game of the same name (currently on Kickstarter right here), featuring a number of familiar animals, riders and artifacts that can be stacked in pairs or altogether in a similar way to Tim Clarke’s Totims. Originally teased right here way back in October of last year, legendary skater Steve Caballero‘s collaboration with Super7 and Secret Base – the CabDragon – has finally been revealed in test-pull form! Loosely based on Cab’s legendary “Enter the Dragon” skate graphic first seen in the late 80’s (check it out here), the 4.5″ tall figure draws inspiration from Super7’s recent Astro-Mu 5 reboot, featuring the same “legs closed, arms up” pose as well as a fully removable dragon mask hiding a rendition of the skater’s head underneath. Pictured here in the early stages of clay prototyping, the stunning oversized design borrows a number of elements from previous MVH releases, including long time favourites Ollie and the DX Sludge Demon. In between a whole heap of soon-to-be-revealed collaborative and commission-based projects, NY-based resin artist Peter Kato has managed to squeeze in some time to work on a couple of limited “Bunnie” runs that’ll be dropping later this week! First up, we have the “Mixed Assortment” Bedtime Bunnie Danglers. Produced in a mix of soft yellow, blue, lavender and pink resin, each 2.5″ tall figure has been fitted with a hook attachment on the head for hanging display. Limited to an edition of 40 – 10 in each colorway – the little danglers will come bagged and tagged for just $15 each… Next, we have the latest colorway of the ever-popular Sleeptime Bunnies. Hand cast in a light lavender colored resin, each sub 1″ tall micro has been treated to neon pink painted detailing. Packed in custom hand stamped box, the limited run of just 10 “Lavender” bunnies will be touching down alongside the Danglers in the Peter Kato store this Thursday, April 16th at 8pm Eastern time for just $12 each…

Longtime partners Itokin Park and Mirock Toy have joined forces once more for the launch of their first joint toy brand, Palette Toy! Kicking things off with a bang, the guys will be debuting with the latest release of their collaborative figure “Rocket Boy” (ロケットボーイ詳細). Based on the works of famed Manga artist Shigeru Sugiura, the officially licensed, vintage-styled sofubi has been sculpted by Mirock, coming in at around 9″ tall and featuring 4 points of articulation. Originally seeing a limited release at Wonderfestival Winter ’15 a few weeks back, this edition has been produced in a flesh tone vinyl, featuring a mix of white, black, yellow, metallic purple and blue masked and free sprays courtesy of Itokin Park. We don’t seem to feature too many privately commissioned customs on Man-E-Toys these days, but upon seeing the latest work from Japanese artists Le Kuo and Gusion M, we simply couldn’t resist… presenting their incredible “Freddy Krueger” Longneck Moon Maijin! Garnering a huge amount of attention recently for their miniaturised apparel-based customs, the pair’s latest, Nightmare on Elm Street-inspired piece follows a similar approach, featuring a hand sewn red and black striped jumper, spiked glove and leather fedora over the top of a gore-soaked flesh and black paint app. Whilst unfortunately already in the hands of one seriously lucky collector, anyone interested in bagging a similar piece can hit the guys up at vicious0310@gmail.com with their enquiries…
