Toy Art Gallery is proud to present their latest all-female group show, Feminamorphe! Featuring a slew of original drawings, paintings, and prints alongside custom toys and exclusive editions for six female artists; Candie Bolton, Helen Vine, Okokume, Tasha Zimich, Teresa Chiba and Uamou; each brings a unique perspective to the toy art form, mixing beauty and cuteness with an often dark thread of surreality. Opening it’s doors on Saturday, January 10th from 7-10pm at Toy Art Gallery’s showroom – located at 7571 Melrose Ave. Hollywood CA 90046 – Feminamorphe will be running at the space until January 31st. Originally revealed right here back in November, Krotpong‘s new line of sofubi minis, The Homunculords, will finally be seeing the light of day soon! Standing around 2.5″-3″ each, the set of 5 finger puppet-style figures all have their own unique – albeit stomach churning – feel, taking elements from right across pop culture, horror and neo-kaiju to form the fistful of freaks you see above. Currently undergoing soft vinyl production over in Japan courtesy of Velocitron, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that these awesome painted prototypes will form the basis for the first full release. Taking a brief sidestep from his regular 3.75″ output, custom bootleg artist Junkfed has just unveiled his latest figure, the Nightmare Bear! Featuring what appears to be a vintage kit-bashed Care Bear toy as a base, the ingenious Nightmare on Elm Street mash-up features a slew of re-sculpted elements, including the iconic Freddy claw, scarred skin, striped jumper and trilby hat. Hand cast in resin and treated to a faithful paint app in red, dark green, brown and flesh acrylic, the 3.5″ tall figure comes complete with articulation in both the legs and arms. Hot on the heals of the recent Cadaver Kid release, Angel Abby have revealed that they’ll be teaming up with T9G for an exclusive run of Rangeas sofubi! Standing at around 9″ tall and coming with 4 points of articulation, the large-size sofubi has been produced in a pink vinyl this time around, coming with a mix of orange, red and purple sprays with metallic accents. Due to be touching down at Angel Abby’s Hong Kong-based store and online at some point later this month, Rangeas will set you back just 8,640yen ($73). With Little Rubber Guys‘ debut mini figure line “Rise of the Beasts” proving to be a huge success since it’s debut a couple of months back, we’ve finally started to see a number of different customs cropping up- the first that we’ll be featuring coming in the form of this stunning pair from series’ prototyper, Luke Harris of Imperfecz! Taking on both Scorpion and Rhino designs, the fully articulated, Glyos compatible PVC minis have been treated to paint apps inspired by the series’ main influence, Takara’s Battle Beasts, coming in a plethora of muted tones and finished with detail hugging black washes. Currently up for auction via eBay (here and here) with a starting price of just $0.99, bidding ends next Monday, January 12th, so be sure to head over and place yours to be in with a chance of bagging the pair!

NYC based resin artist Healeymade has just revealed that he’s revisiting some of his slightly more obscure mini figures as part of a special release dubbed “All Sorts”! Featuring a trifecta of sub 3″ figures that originally debuted back in 2012; Luftmaus, Zoner and Sogmoore, it would appear that the trio will be released together as a limited 3 pack, with 4 unpainted, solid colorways up for grabs; blue, flesh, purple and green. With their Dr Mirock line dominating the world of sofubi minis over the past year, Mirock Toy have just revealed that they will finally be taking on the big boys with their first mid-large size release later this year! Whilst the above “pincer” pic is all we have to go on at present, it would appear that the first figure in this new up-scaled size will be the original Mirock Tank (pictured below), albeit with a slew of extra details and design revisions. Still in the early stages of prototyping at present, be sure to check back soon for more developments, as well as details of the first Western releases for new small-mid sized figures “OG-AT” and “Kurama” (check them here)…

Richard Page over at UME Toys is proud to reveal his first release of the year, the Valentine edition Geekwok! The first run of the 3″ tall figure since scooping up a DTA award for “Best Resin” back in October, the adorable little nerd has been treated to a rather apt “Valentine” red paint app this time around, coming complete with a hand cast and painted “fixed” broken heart display plinth. Limited to an edition of just 20 pieces, the Valentine Geekwok will be touching down in the UME Toys store via preorder this coming Friday, January 9th at 9pm London time for an undisclosed sum…

Jeff Lamm has once again joined forces with Unbox Industries for the latest in his ongoing line of kaiju-style figures, proudly presenting Space Mining Division 5 aka SMD 5! Easily the largest and most production-intensive figure in the series to date, the looming 9″ tall beast features a total of 6+ points of articulation, a removable back pack, plus 5 multi-colored, interconnecting tubes. Due to be produced in a gorgeous dark purple soft vinyl with green and black sprays for this debut “Eva” release, expect the figure to go up for sale via preorder in the Unbox store later this month. After over a year on the drawing board, the official Verne Langdon 1972 Zombie action figure will finally be available to purchase soon! Based on the late, great monster maker’s iconic Zombie mask and tiki mug, the 1/12th scale figures feature a standard articulated doll body, complete with custom sculpted, cast and painted resin heads and arms from none other than Kreature Kid. Limited to an edition of just 72 figures split into 2 fully clothed editions; a standard zombie with a torn black suit and a tiki variant, sporting white trousers, Hawaiian shirt and tiki mug accessory; the pair will be up for grabs through the Verne Langdon store in the near future for an undisclosed sum. Hot on the heels of the recent Oni Mira reveal, Johan Ulrich over at DeathCat Toys is proud to present yet another figure in his upcoming finger puppet-style series! Conceived by Johan and sculpted by KtoKto, the as yet untitled figure (top) has been heavily inspired by Bikkuriman and the classic Ma-Ba Zombies toy line, sculpted in-scale at around 3″ tall and coming with a split torso, capped bottom design. Due to be produced alongside Oni Mira in the very near future, be sure to stay tuned for release details over the coming months…

Produced in what appears to be a GID soft vinyl, the 4″ tall figure has been treated to a number of orange, green and purple sprays for the standard run (pictured), with an as yet unrevealed “secret version” and one-off also being thrown into the mix. Medicom Toy have returned to DC Comics this month for the fourth instalment of the ever popular Retro Sofubi Collection, taking on 2 of our favourite Batman characters- sidekick Robin and The Penguin! Once again sculpted by Bear Model in the classic vintage sofubi style, the soft vinyl figures stand at just shy of 10″, featuring a total of 5 points of articulation each. Uky Daydreamer have revealed that they’ve teamed up with a number of different artists for Jungle‘s latest line of sofubi minis, Ma-jo of Guruja! Whilst details on the project are still thin on the ground, it would appear that the Neclos Fortress-inspired series will feature a total of 5 different characters; the OTA Swordsman, Knight, Drunk Mage, Candy-Chan Dragon and Cackling Goblin; these will also be joined by a number of different accessories as well as a treasure box to store them in. Pictured here as finished wax prototypes, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the first release in the next couple of months…
