MAN-E-NEWS// KtoKto’s Monster Series: Wave 2 sofubi minis revealed…
With his first round of “Monster” sofubi minis already proving to be a huge success, Japanese artist KtoKto has just revealed that a second wave is about to head into production! Inspired by a mix of both classic monster designs and 80s Japanese horror toys – including the iconic MaBa Zombies – this second batch once again features a total of 3 different designs; a quad-eyed werewolf, a creature from the Black Lagoon and a de-tombed mummy, each sculpted in the classic finger puppet style and due to be produced in an uncapped soft vinyl. Pictured here as finished wax prototypes, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a debut release before the year is out…

BLObPUS has teamed up with amigurumi (knitting) artist Dol Roffo for his latest release, the Jellyfish Dokugans! Coming cast in a glow-in-the-dark soft vinyl, the mid-sized kaiju has been treated to subtle pink and blue sprays from BLObPUS, coming complete with a stunning crocheted “jellyfish” head pieces from Roffo. The guys over at apparel brand Scumbags & Superstars have teamed up with MechaVirus for a special micro-run of custom “Glitter” Skull Chiefs! Having returned safely from Designer Con over the weekend, Jeremi Rimel of Miscreation Toys has just uploaded his store with a huge selection of leftovers! Featuring unpainted marbled micro-runs of Gergle and the Zombie Staple Baby in both “Candy Corn Puke” and “Fallout” colorways, as well as the previously posted banana yellow Zombie GMO Baby, these have been joined by a number of HP runs and one-off customs from Jeremi himself, Joe Whiteford and wife Nicole Rimel – of which her follow up to her TAG “Crawling Dead” Ice Cream custom can be seen above. Up and coming sofubi artist Cherri Polly have just revealed that they’ll be filling their online store with a whole host of new goodies later this Friday, November 14th! Featuring 2 new versions of mini cat and mouse duo Maman and Nezumi; a “Tortoiseshell/Golden”, coming with orange and black sprays on white vinyl for $70, and “Aquarium”, cast in a clear blue vinyl with an acetate insert and silver detailing for $80, these have been joined by an unpainted “Rainbow” gacha release of Nenne priced at just $18 a piece. On top of all these, Cherri will also be offering up the latest painted micro-run of Nenne too (above), with this “Tropical Banana” edition coming cast in a bright yellow vinyl complete with black, brown and orange sprays for $90. Unfortunately an exact release time is still to be confirmed, so we suggest that interested parties keep a close eye on the store throughout Friday to avoid disappointment!

Inspired by the classic Battle Beast mini figures, these bang-up-to-date renditions stand at just under 2.5″ each, coming complete with 5 points of articulation. Kicking proceeding off with 2 different designs, Rhino and Scorpion, the pair are due to be offered up with 4 different colorways up for grabs; a Metallic Black/Grey painted version for $7, plus unpainted Flesh, Gold and Metallic Black for just $4 each. As if news of the Lulubell Toys sale wasn’t enough, Skinner has revealed that he will also be dropping his remaining Designer Con 2014 exclusives in the Critical Hit store at Noon PST today (11/11)! Whilst we’re still unsure as to exactly what will be on offer – we’re hoping for a Morgogg or two ourselves – we can confirm that there will be at least a few of the pictured “BogBat” Ultrus Bogs up for grabs. Originally revealed as a finished clay proto way back in December of last year, the second entry into the Radioactive Rumblers series – the undead wolfman known as Bite Size – is now finally nearing the last stages of production! Designed by Radioactive Uppercut‘s John Santagada and sculpted by the ‘titan of the Collectible Toy Industry’, Jean St. Jean Studios, the soft vinyl figure – pictured here in a test-shot white – will make a perfect sparring partner for the previously released 8-Ball, standing at a similar 4″ tall and coming with the same 3 points of articulation… Exact details on the release are still pretty scarce at the moment – John is still currently deciding whether to offer the figure up via pre-order or go down a similar route to 8-Ball with a Kickstarter campaign – but you can guarantee that once details are confirmed, you guys will be amongst the first to know…
MAN-E-NEWS// Max Toy Co’s Mushroom and Ringo Racoon prototypes at Design Fiesta 40…
Joining One-Up and their Kumaboku proto, Max Toy Co were also on-hand at Design Fiesta 40 over the weekend with a couple of new figures ready for production! A follow-up to Teresa Chiba’s Kibunadon, the provisionally titled “Mushroom” (left) is set to become the latest figure to feature in Max Toy’s ongoing “Kaiju Gals” series, with the little guy coming sculpted by Makino based on a design from up and coming artist Kaori Hinata. Joined by the latest Pico Pico-sculpted Max Toy fig – the adorable Ringo Racoon – the pair are said to be “coming soon”, so fingers crossed that means soon rather than later!

MAN-E-NEWS// DeathCat Toys x Dubose Art’s Infected Death Cats teased…
Johan Ulrich over at DeathCat Toys has teamed up with Dubose Art for another round of ever popular Death Cat figures, but this time things are a little different… the poor felines have become infected! Featuring the same standard base design as previous releases, Jonathan over at Dubose Art has set about adding an extra layer of hand sculpted boils, pustules and warts, remoulding the poor plague-ridden moggy and casting him up in a super-bright GID resin. Currently winging their way over to Johan for a lick of paint before release, expect to see the first batch of Infected Death Cats up for grabs in the very near future…
MAN-E-NEWS// Pico Pico’s Kumaboku prototype for One-Up at Design Fiesta 40…
Whilst inevitably there was a huge selection of new toys to buy at Design Fiesta 40 over the weekend, the event also played host to a number of never-before-seen prototypes, the first of which that we’ll be covering coming in the form of this breathtaking new sofubi from One-Up… Kumaboku! Designed and sculpted for the Japanese retailer by Pico Pico, the beautifully realised robo-bear appears to feature a 2 part design – suggesting a small, mini-sized scale – coming complete with stunning cutaway sections that reveal an intricate, Terminator-like aesthetic underneath. Whilst a clear release date still hasn’t been set for the figure yet, the slightly damaged nature of the sculpt would suggest that a mould has probably already been cast from it, meaning the first vinyl pulls shouldn’t be too far off! With Blurble debuting his latest resin figure – The Muckster – at Designer Con 2014 this weekend, collaboration partner SelfishLittle has decided to offer up a micro-run online for those unable to attend the event! Imagined by Blurble, sculpted by SelfishLittle and hand cast by Dubose, these steamy piles of resin stand at around 6″ tall. Limited to an edition of just 3 for this release – each coming with a unique paint app courtesy of SelfishLittle – the Mucksters can be found right here for just $40 each plus shipping…
MAN-E-NEWS// Secretoy’s Cinema Monster test-shot revealed…
Originally revealed as a near finished clay proto back in June, Splurrt‘s debut release under his new Secretoy brand – the Cinema Monster – has just been spotted as a vinyl test shot! On display at the Rampage Toys Design Fiesta 40 booth this weekend, the awesome mid-large size kaiju draws inspiration from the golden age of monster flicks, including Ray Harryhausen’s classic Cyclops and the 2-headed beast that graces the iconic cover of 1968’s Famous Monsters of Filmland yearbook. Hopefully set to make it’s debut before the year is out, be sure to stay tuned for more info on this must-have figure as soon as we hear anything…
