Tomenosuke have just announced that they will be once again teaming up with Circus Posterus for an ongoing series of Chibi sofubi! Due to feature designs from CP regulars including Kathy Olivas, Chris Ryniak and Amanda Louise Spade, the first to sculpt to be revealed has come in the form of Brandt Peters‘ Chibi-Skelve, currently undergoing the final stages of sculpting courtesy of Yohei Kaneko over at Mirock-Toy. Remember the pea shooters and spud guns of your youth? And remember the constant reminder from unnerved parents that you’d shoot someones eye out using it?! Well, thanks to HamFX, we now have a gun SPECIFICALLY for that purpose! The first in a series of classic, fully working toys from the artist, each piece comes with a professionally printed header card, and features an authentic, fully loaded 1960’s “Pea Shooter” style gun. A signed an numbered edition of 20, the “Eye Out” shooter will be touching down in the HamFX store this Friday, January 31st for $45 each…
We thought the unveiling of Dr Bomb last week would signify the end of Zoomoth‘s astounding Wonderfestival line-up, but the guys have only gone and revealed yet another licensed keshi they’ll have on hand… Castlevania’s Simon Belmont! Taken from his first ever outing on the NES, the vampire slayer has been meticulously realised in keshi form, standing at an oversized 2.5″ tall and coming complete with his signature flowing locks, battle armour and whip. Due to be produced in an injection moulded PVC, the figure will be up for grabs under the same one day license as previous releases (albeit under Konami this time around), with flesh, red, green and blue versions up for grabs at the event on February 9th, at 3,000yen ($29) each…
We are very proud to reveal today that our very own Tru:Tek will be heading over to Japan for a special “One Night Only” Keshi Party at Rampage Studios! Taking place ahead of Wonderfestival on Friday, February 7th, the mini show is set to feature a whole heap of rubbery goodness, including all-new Rampage and Nama Niku bootlegs for the Gachapon machine (including a keshi version of the Catfighter BASTARD), a Disarticulator retrospective display, plus a special Japan-only debut of the latest Disarticulator mini figure, Alien Uchuujin. We’ll be giving the little guy his first full reveal on the blog tomorrow, so be sure to come by and check him out!
Teased here in it’s early stages just a couple of weeks back, Awesome Toy have revealed that their debut sofubi sculpt, FAKE BARON, is just about ready for production! Heavily inspired by a collection of Pachi (bootleg) Red Baron menko cards from the 70′s, the stunning plaster sculpt is currently undergoing the final stages of retouching and polishing before it hits the wax in the next few weeks. Dubose Art have just unleashed their latest hunk of resin, the awesome Brewmaster garage kit! Harking back to the classic resin kits of the 60’s and 70’s, the monstrous piece was designed by Motorbot, digitally sculpted by iamscumbag and produced by Jonathan DuBose. Consisting of 5 easily assembled pieces cast in a mix of green, black and brown resin, the figure stands at 7.5″ tall when complete, weighing in at an impressive 2lbs of solid resin. Danny van den Hoonaard over at Ready2Rumbl kindly shares details on his latest wooden toy, Pink P! The first in a new series of popculture inspired wooden sculptures, this debut release predictably pays homage to none other than the Pink Panther, featuring a multipart design built up with basic hand carved shapes that’ve been painted in the infamous feline’s various hues of pink. As if yesterday’s reveal of Kid Toxic and Oozy wasn’t enough, Blurble has just revealed that he’s teamed up with Weird Luke for a run of “Toxic” Gustos! Coming from the depths of the sewers, these blood stained, puss soaked miscreants have been painted up by Luke in a mix of flesh, brown and green acrylics, standing at around 5″ tall and coming with 2 points of neo-mag articulation. Limited to an edition of just 4 this time around, the Toxic Gustos will be up for grabs in the Blurble store this Wednesday, January 29th at 3pm PST for $60 plus shipping…
Mandarake have teamed up with Medicom Toy for their first exclusive release of 2014, the Mazinger Z “Cheap Homage” sofubi! Paying tribute to the many, often unofficial, colours and shapes that Mazinger Z has graced since it’s conception in 1972, particularly the numerous cheap snack shop toys, the iconic bot has been realised in 2 subtly different sculpts; an open armed “Original” with metallic brown and orange sprays, and a closed arm “Retro”, with solid neon lime green, blue ad red sprays. Sculpted by Bear Model with colour direction from LEO/FRENZY, the 25cm tall figures are up for grabs on the Mandarake site right here until February 25th, coming in at 10,000yen ($98) plus shipping…
Originally teased back in early December, Blurble has just revealed that his latest character to make the jump into 3D, the awesome Kid Toxic, has received it’s first resin test pull! Designed by Blurble, digitally sculpted by iamscumbag and prototyped/produced by DuBose Art, the 5″ tall figure brings the same instantly recognisable skate punk aesthetic as both Sparrow and Shroomy, this time around with nods to both Ed Roth-style garage kits and 70′s cult classic toy Ooze-It too. Hopefully making it’s store debut in the next couple of weeks, we suggest keeping a close on the Blurble IG feed here for more details soon… But wait, that’s not all! Whilst still awaiting an official reveal, Blurble has also teased another all-new figure, Oozy! Closely based on the Cosmos Alien Ooze-It bootlegs of the 80’s, we’re guessing the piece will feature as part of Blurble’s upcoming Ooze-Club mixed media release. Super7 have just teased their latest incoming release, the Ghost of Caveman Dinosaur! Marking the first official release of Josh Herbolsheimer’s sofubi mini since it’s appearance in the S7 Lucky Bags and at SDCC last year, it would appear that the figure will be coming in some sort of clear vinyl judging by the “ghost” in the title, but we guess only time will tell! Paul Shih has just revealed that the Fortune Teller resin will be making it’s second appearance in a special Valentines Edition this weekend! Hand sculpt and rotocast by Paul, the little guy has been sprayed in a similar lightly burnt tan as before, this time around coming with a pair of adorable red rosy cheeks. Once again featuring a slot on the underside for a printed fortune, Paul will be inviting customers to come up with their own personal note, or for those less adventurous, chose from a variety of pre-printed valentine’s themed messages in-store. JR Deem aka Super Sandbagger has just revealed that the fourth and final series of Wastelander keshi will be touching down in his store at 10pm EST tonight! Split up into two waves (the second of which will be making an appearance in just a couple of weeks time), the first batch consists of two main figures, Sanzou the Sand Golem and Bulk Head the Enforcer, both coming with a matching micro companion.
