Alex Gavryushenko over at Brooklyn based toy and apparel brand Psycho Scimitar has been garnering a lot of attention recently for his unique hand crafted wooden figures, with his latest release, the absolutely stunning “Crystal Lady”, certainly no exception! Standing at around 9″ tall and 0.75″ thick, the completely flat piece comes with 6 hand cut, fully articulated sections (including an interchangeable alien head!), each beautifully silkscreened and finished with raised acrylic detailing. Limited to an edition of 6, including 3 secret intergalactic versions, the Crystal Lady can be found both online in the Psycho Scimitar store and at Brooklyn’s Desert Island Comics, priced at $35 each…
But that’s not all! Taking his unique aesthetic into the realms of 3d, Alex has also revealed an as yet untitled sofubi proto too! Currently in the first stages of production in Japan, the crazy looking aquatic kaiju stands at around 9″ tall, coming complete with articulation in the neck, plus 3 interchangeable eye accessories. News on the release is still thin on the ground at the moment, but you can be sure that as soon as we hear anything, you guys will be the first to know!
BLObPUS has just unveiled his latest lottery sale, this time around for the adorable Jackalope sofubi micro! A cross between the mythical North American animal and Alice in Wonderland’s White Rabbit, the time piece clutching critter has been painted by BLObPUS in a mix of red, white and brown brushwork- an unusual change from the artists signature kaiju sprays! Limited to a run of just 5 this time around, it would appear that they’ve been cast in the same GID blue as Rampage Toys’ recently release, coming with several layers of sprays, black rubs and hand painted detailing. It’s been a long time in coming, but Brown Noize Productions‘ custom keshi Spinshine has finally returned for a second run! Based on the “Spinning Top Sunshine” M.U.S.C.L.E (#195) figure, the digital resculpt features an awesome Ashuraman inspired 3 headed design, brandishing the Sunshine chest piece, Ashura kanji and Brown Noize logos around the outside. Originally sold with the companion Spinning Head Sunshine body (which can still be found in 3D printed form in the Shapeways store right here), the figure is available on its own this time around, coming cast by Alec over at Muscle Things in a 2-tone pink/blue black light reflective rubber. Hot off the radioactive heels of the successful 8-Ball sofubi figure Kickstarter campaign, John Santagada over at Radioactive Uppercut is ready to unleash the second figure in the Radioactive Rumblers monster toy line… the undead wolfman known as Bite-Size! Teased online through close-up detail shots over the past month or so (pictured below), the stunning figure has finally been given a full reveal ahead of making his way over to Japan for production. Expertly realised by the ‘titan of the Collectible Toy Industry’, Jean St. Jean Studios, based on John’s original design, the piece will make a perfect sparring partner for 8-Ball, standing at a similar 4″ tall, and coming with the same 3 points of articulation… Exact details on the release are still pretty scarce at the moment, but with reveals of the first 2 colourways planned for early next month, and a preorder for late January/early February, it really won’t be too long until we can get to see this bad boy in-hand!
