The “Weekend at the Lake” custom bootleg from Jack’s Attic…

Weekend at the Lake Teaser Blog Size

Coming just in time for Halloween, Jack’s Attic are proud to present their first ever custom bootleg, the hilarious “Weekend at the Lake”! A tribute/parody inspired by the iconic Friday the 13th movies, the piece tells the story of a retired Jason Voorhees going back to Crystal Lake to enjoy the serenity he created by dispatching all of those pesky teenagers over the years! Standing at an impressive 6″ tall, the kit-bashed and recast resin figure will be released in an edition of 13 hand painted designs; 4 in blue shirts, 4 in red, 4 in yellow, and 1 chase in a rather dashing pink. Due to touch down in the Jack’s Attic store next Friday, October 25th, each Jason comes bagged and headed for just $40 plus shipping… The first in a long line of intended horror-themed boots from Jack, expect details on the follow-up early next month!

MAN-E-NEWS// The V.e.r.a 1 ‘self aware exploration rover’ from polyopticsLABs…

DSC_0592_after_info

One of the best things about walking around the Block at NYCC was witnessing the huge selection of amazing figures from artists that we’d never been exposed to before, with one such example (easily the most impressive in our opinion!) coming from Triplikid colleague, polyopticsLABs… the breathtaking V.e.r.a 1 robot! Truly a wonder to behold, the beautifully detailed creation comes with over 30 individually produced and assembled parts, working lights in the eyes and main radar body, a meticulous hand painted weathered colour scheme, PLUS the pièce de résistance… a fully removable head access panel to display the figure’s inner workings! With the initial batch of 8 selling out at NYCC, polyopticsLABs’ Brian Anderson has just revealed that preorders for the figure are now up for grabs through the dedicated store for just $135 plus shipping- an unbelievable price when you actually get to see the work that’s gone into them in person! Painstakingly handcrafted one at a time, purchasers can expect to wait a maximum of 120 days for delivery, a small price to pay for such a awesome creation…

“The V.e.r.a.1 is designed to excel in dynamic scenarios by rapidly adapting to unknown environments. Instinctual behavior blended with artificial intelligence, controlled by our on board systems, translates into a truly interactive operating experience. When initialized and adequately powered, the V.e.r.a.1 will process information in the environment and intelligently respond to stimuli. In that state it will directly experience perceptions, sensations, and thoughts…”

Priced at a very reasonable $125 plus shipping, these will be made to order, so expect to wait around 4-8 weeks for delivery. Fingers crossed for news of the first fully painted edition soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Acme Bat CBCC exclusive from Menace Inc Studios x Acme Comics…

Acme Bat 3D Design

Jeff Beck over at Menace Inc Studios has teamed up with Acme Studios for the release of his latest resin figure, the Acme Bat! Created just in time for the upcoming  Comic Book City Con (running October 26th-27th), the piece has been inspired directly by Acme’s very own Bat mascot, with digital sculpting duties handed to the more than capable hands of Playful Gorilla’s Alexis Rivera. 3D printed, retooled and recast by Beck, the 4″ tall figures will be available in a total of 3 exclusive colourways for the con; “CBCC Blue” (ltd 5), “Super Hero Red” (ltd 10) and “Black Night” (ltd 10), all of which will be up for grabs exclusively from the Acme booth, each coming packed with a felt cape and custom header for just $25-$30 each… For the completists out there, Jeff will also be selling a super-limited batch of 4 ‘artist proofs’ at his own table at the con! No news on pricing and colourways for these at the moment, so we suggest making his booth a priority to avoid any disappointment…

MAN-E-RECAP// Miscreation Toys’ Autopsy Zombie Staple Babies at the Lulubell Toys NYCC booth…

autopsy nu

We’ll be recapping a number of our favourite pieces from last week’s NYCC over the next few days, with the first coming in the form of easily the grossest figures the con had to offer… Miscreation Toys‘ Autopsy Zombie Staple Babies! Making the inevitable transition from heavyweight resin to sofubi courtesy of Grody Shogun, these hideous creations were cast in a mix of one-off swirled colourways for the event, going on sale on Friday at the Lulubell booth for just $90 a piece. We were lucky enough to score one of the little critters ourselves (pictured above), so expect some more thorough turnarounds on our IG feed soon… Unfortunately, we’re still not too sure as to when the standard ‘solid’ colour versions will be available for sale, but with the iron molds now finalised, we’re guessing they’ll be heading to the Lulubell store at some point in the near future. Check out the Miscreation blog here for more details on the project…

MAN-E-NEWS// The COCOON resin figure from Patient No.6…

IMG_20131012_235702

Hot off the heals of the seminal Psycho-Machine (which is still looking to secure funding right here), Patient No.6 proudly presents his latest resin masterpiece, COCOON! Standing at around 8.5″ of solid, hand produced resin, the beautiful figure features 2 separately cast animal skulls busting out of a bearded deity, complete with a hand painted wooden halo and removable ‘body’ base. Available in a hi-gloss black and white finish for this initial release, the figure has been limited to just 15 pieces with a price tag of $76 shipped… But that’s not all! To celebrate the coming of COCOON, Patient No.6 has also been hard a work on a matching custom run of “I and MGH” (My Giraffe Head). Once again cast in a hi-gloss black resin with wooden halo, the 5.5″ figure has also been limited to 15, coming packed in a custom wooden box for just $36. Interested in grabbing both? Then you’ll be glad to know that the pair can be found on the Patient No.6 store right here for a reduced bundle price of just $86…

MAN-E-NEWS// NYCC photo dump: Days 2, 3 and 4… finally!!!

nycc-logo

Failing on the rather ambitious plan of posting the rest of my NYCC photos directly from the con (a mix of internet problems, booth duties and 2 rather nasty hangovers certainly not helping!), I proudly present the rest of the incredible toys I managed to snap during my roamings around the Block and beyond. Expect individual booth/figure reviews plus our regular postings to resume tomorrow… Enjoy!
