MAN-E-NEWS// Zeon’s Moving Castle custom Gundam from Dunpeel…

06-noscale

Moving away from our regular indie toy postings, we bring you a custom piece from established Gundam customiser Dunpeel we simply couldn’t ignore… presenting Zeon’s Moving Castle! Inspired by the towering mass of organic machinery seen in Studio Ghibli’s iconic anime HWC, the piece has been created using multiple Gundam ‘Zaku II’ kits, including the 1/48 Megasize, several 1/100 Master Grades and a backpack from the RX-78-2 Gundam. Brought together with the help of some seamless additional sculpting, the piece has been faithfully painted in Zaku’s original olive, black and red tones, coming mounted on a scaled grass base… Unfortunately details on availability are still forthcoming, but if you’re interested in checking out how the piece was put together, head over to the original posting at FG-Site here.

Screen Shot 2013-05-08 at 14.16.27

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any new M.U.S.C.L.E customs from the Healeymade camp, so it came with great pleasure this week to find that the artist has just tackled none other than fan favourite, the Snigator Claw! Posted on Instagram at the beginning of the week with the tag ‘MUSCLE/MASK’, we can only assume that this will be the latest in the series of M.A.S.K inspired figures- although the sculpt that replaces the original Snigator head strangely appears a lot more dynamic than that of the popular 80’s toy line… Unfortunately details on the release are still scarce, but with the original line-up also recently teased in a previously unseen ‘flesh’ colourway, we’re guessing we won’t have long until they hit the store. Stay locked on the Healeymade IG feed here for more details soon!

The bootleg universe of the Battling Bastards just got a ‘LITTLE’ bigger, as El Cabroncito, the death-defying Mexican mini, joins Ultimate Carlos’ army of lucha thugs for the latest release from Scraped Resin! Kit-bashed and re-sculpted from various lucha figures, El Cabroncito differs slightly from the previous release in terms of scale and articulation- instead opting for a smaller, static design resembling the lucha ‘idols’ commonly found adorning dashboards and spiritual altars in Mexico. Initially coming in the pictured ‘Santo’s Blood’ colourway, the figures have been cast in a 2-part process using stage-blood red and silver-bullet coloured resins, with no paint applied. Limited to just 6 in this edition, each figure will be packaged with an El Cabroncito vinyl sticker, a limited edition saint card commerating the Santo’s Blood colourway, plus a header card featuring Lucha Libre legend El Santo. Dropping on the Scraped Resin store this Wednesday, May 8th at noon PST, El Cabroncito can be yours for just $30 plus shipping… Head over to the dedicated blog here for the full lowdown on the project.

A total change in direction from the foreboding Leaders, the hilarious figure has been designed, hand sculpted and cast by Laird, with cell vinyl application by Tara Krebs. Weighing in at an impressive 7″ tall, the beautifully executed piece has been limited to just 30 pieces, with limited supplies available at both Magic Pony and the Big Trubble store for $200 plus shipping…

Invader2aTextE

Hot off the heals of his recent Altar Beast collaboration with Monster Worship for C2E2 (check it out here), Scott Wilkowski unleashes yet another skeletal masterpiece in the form of the ‘Invaders’… What appears to be a sculpt from either a canned or forthcoming ‘Infected’ custom Android project, the beautiful piece has been cast in 2 different colourways; 1a being a marbled white and green resin, with 1b coming in green and purple. Available in extremely limited supplies directly through the artist’s blog here, each ‘Invader’ comes complete with display stand for just $60 plus shipping…

Screen Shot 2013-05-05 at 11.46.39

Joining the ‘Deathmatch‘ work-in-progress we posted a couple of weeks back, it appears that Nama Niku and Ironhaus have yet another mini figure in the works judging by this awesome header art posted yesterday! Whilst information is purely speculative at the moment, we guess that the figure will be an extension of Nama Niku’s popular Meatgrinder keshi customs- the difference being that this time it’ll be 100% originally sculpted! To be cast by none other than Eric Nilla in a flexible keshi-style rubber, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the usual wide ranging selection of colours including GID, thermal colour changing and the obligatory M.U.S.C.L.E flesh. Expect an update on this highly promising project soon…
