MAN-E-NEWS// Hippo Titan Soldier paint test WIP from Ben Spencer x ManOrMonster? Studios…

He’s been a while in the making, but the Ben Spencer x ManOrMonster? Studios ‘Hippo Titan Soldier’ is finally gearing up for release! Originally due to go on sale at C2E2 last weekend, the massive workload of both Ben and MoM? for the event meant that the project unfortunately got a little held up- although judging by the recently revealed castings and paint test proto, we haven’t got much longer to wait… Kit-bashed and intensively re-sculpted by Ben and cast with WoW compatible neo-mag joints by MoM?’s Brandon, the blunderbuss wielding action figure is pictured here as a WIP paint test, coming in a Red Squadron inspired mix of white, orange and black. Release details are still to be confirmed at the moment, but you can be sure that as soon as we hear anything, you guys will be the first to know…

MAN-E-NEWS// The ‘Battle Cat’ custom Laser Beast from Ersico…

Hot off the heals of the recent Baxter Stockman custom Glyos posted earlier in the week, Ersico comes with yet another show-stopping piece… the Battle Cat inspired Laser Beast! Taking popular ‘Tiger Burn’ from the iconic 80’s toy line, Ersico has set about faithfully replicating the colours of He-Man’s trusty stead, using a mixture of dark orange, green and yellow acrylics finished off with a hi-gloss clear coat. Unfortunately we have no news as to whether this little guy is available to purchase, so we suggest interested parties should hit Ersico up through his expansive LRG feed here with any enquiries…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Deluxe Rankin Bass ‘Gollum’ from HamFX x Killer Bootlegs…

Making it’s debut at the Toys Are Us group show last month in a limited GID colourway, the ‘Deluxe Rankin Bass’ Gollum is finally ready for general release! Brewed from the fires of Mt. Doom, the fully articulated, mag jointed resin figure was sculpted by Tyler Ham of HamFX, with mould, casting and airbrushing duties handed over to the more than capable hands of Killer Bootlegs‘ Peter Goral. Limited to just 20 pieces, the ‘Stoor’ will be up for grabs on the KB store at Noon CST today (May 3rd) for $80 plus shipping… Fancy nabbing one of the original GID variants? Then you’ll be glad to know that a limited amount of stock are still available through the Rockford Art Deli store for just $60!

The highly talented Plastic Playhouse delves into 90’s pop culture once more as he proudly presents his latest M.U.S.C.L.E custom… an ode to Mortal Kombat’s Goro! Using the four armed ‘Ashuraman No Sensei’ figure, PP has painted him up in the final boss’ familiar orange tone, complete with subtle washes, meticulous highlights and even a newly sculpted pony tail! Currently available to purchase through PP’s dedicated LRG thread here, we suggest heading over pretty quick if you’re interested- he most definitely wont be around for long!

MAN-E-NEWS// Broken Pigeon’s ‘Death Vader’ custom bootleg for DeKorner…

DeKorner continue their series of collaborations with up and coming bootleg artist Broken Pigeon as they reveal their latest exclusive release, the grim lord ‘Death Vader’! Standing at around 3″ tall, the kit-bashed figure has been hand cast by BP in a gorgeous yellow/black marbled resin. Limited to 20 pieces, 5 of which come with a ‘chase’ backer card, the rest a standard bag and header, the little guy has been priced at just $45 plus shipping. Expect to see him in the DeKorner online store this Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at 10AM Pacific time…

MAN-E-NEWS// WIP Rivet Wars ‘Blight Fighter’ from Ted Terranova…

No one could ever have predicted how the Rivet Wars: Eastern Front Kickstarter campaign would blow up, but after just 30 days on the net the humble tabletop board game managed to secure over 20 times the required funding, going on to net CoolMiniOrNot and series creator Ted Terranova just shy of $600,000. The result of this has meant that Ted has been able to get back to the drawing board to work on a whole army of new figures that just wouldn’t have been possible before, the latest to be revealed coming in the form of the stunning ‘Blight Fighter’ pictured above… The first fully airbourne vehicle we’ve seen so far, the beautifully detailed piece comes with an interesting design feature- a cockpit plug that fits either a pilot, hero, or turret figure! Endless hours of fun… Due to be getting the 3D print treatment soon, the Blight Fighter is set to become on part of a huge display planned for CMoN Expo- more details on that soon!

The guys over at Clutter are happy to announce that from May 1st until May 15th, the Designer Toy Awards, aka the DTAs, will be accepting open nominations in a variety of categories from both professionals and fans alike! Now in it’s 3rd year, the prestigious ceremony has undergone a number of changes, including a much clearer eligibility period (now strictly by year), new categories, plus a fully refined and restructured nomination, voting, and finalist procedure. Head over to the dedicated site here to get registered, review the current list of nominees and feel free to add anyone or anything you think worthy that hasn’t already been included… We’ve had the honour this year to be nominated for Best Blog, so remember us when voting finally hits in a few weeks!

Previewed here last week, JR Deem aka Super Sandbagger‘s post-apocalyptic ‘Wastelanders’ mini figures are finally up for grabs! Featuring the mighty Skorplok alongside Ironmask’s little sandbag ‘Chibbs’, the pair have been cast in a flexible keshi-style rubber with a number of different colour options available including Flesh, GIDs and thermal colour changers. Priced at a wallet friendly $12 plus shipping for the pair, the Wastelanders can be found in the Sandtastic store right here…

Fresh from the success of the OMFG Series 3 Kickstarter campaign, October Toys have wasted no time in getting to work on the line-up, as they proudly announce that voting is now open for Series 4! Featuring a total of 147 mini figure designs from October Toys community members, up and coming sculptors and established artists, the final collection is as diverse in terms of creativity and quality as ever, with some real gems hidden away that simply must see the light of day in some form! We’ve collated a few of our favourites above, but you’ll want to head over here to check out the full rundown here (be patient, loading all 147 takes a while!) before submitting your 5 choices on the dedicated forum thread. No news on an exact cut off point for votes at the moment, so we suggest heading over ASAP if you want to have your say!

After a brief hiatus from the art toy scene, Jeff Beck of Menace Inc Studios is back with his latest slab of resin genius… presenting the Death Dealer! Featuring a super-creepy skull design sculpted directly on to a shotgun cartridge, the figure has then been hand cast by Jeff in a multitude of different resin tints, coming complete with mounted keychain and custom header card. Making their debut at the Piedmont Artists United Indie Market Booth this coming Friday, May 3rd, the Death Dealers will be hitting the Menace Inc store soon after for just $12 plus shipping…

MAN-E-NEWS// The ‘Bullet Belt’ painted proto from Skinner…

Originally debuting at ToyCon UK earlier in the month in both black and flesh prototype form, the jaw-dropping Bullet Belt from Skinner made an appearance at C2E2 over the weekend as a fully painted master! Created as part of Triclops Studios upcoming B.A.S.T.A.R.D Universe project, the mini figure inspired piece stands at a lofty 10″ tall, this time coming with Skinner’s signature choice of metallic aqua sprays and black/red detailing. It’s still unclear as to whether this complex paint job will be translated for the full production run, or if it’ll remain a one off piece- painted or not though, Bullet Belt has got to be one of the strongest vinyl figures we’ve seen all year… Fingers crossed either way we see a release soon!

Joining the previously revealed Toxic Avenger Sewer Creep in-store this week, Lulubell Toys are proud to present the latest in a long line of figures to receive the ‘Shooting Blanks’ treatment… Skinner’s Ultru Bog! That’s right, after an endless barrage of requests for blank Bogs, Lulubell is set to deliver with both unpainted black and GID versions of the ever popular sofubi. Available through the Lulubell store on pre-order (no maximum orders) for one week only starting Friday, May 3rd at Noon Pacific, expect to pay $75 each plus shipping. Delivery on these guys will commence July/August…

As mentioned in our Ray Skull coverage last week, Nama Niku is the latest out of the blocks with his H.U.S.T.L.E Wave 1 Artist Proofs, proudly presenting the long awaited ‘Kinkeshi Flesh’ Mekamess! Undeniably one of the most popular designs from the first batch of figures, the MechaGodzilla kit-bash has been cast up in the original, lighter kinkeshi flesh colour by our very own Tru:Tek using a flexible urethane rubber (check out a comparison shot here). Limited to just 5 pieces, 4 of which have already been taken for, the remaining figure is now available through board auction over at LRG. Donated by Nama Niku to help fund a new hard drive for the popular mini figure forum, interested parties can review and post their bid right here– be sure to head over soon though, bidding finishes at 6pm Pacific time this Sunday, May 5th!

MAN-E-NEWS// The ‘My Pet Monster’ Critter custom from Topheroy…

We recently sent over a big batch of Disarticulator resin blanks to the mighty Topheroy to get to work upon, and as you can see by the above images, it’s taken no time for him to get down to business! First up we have a private commission for our resident super-sculptor Zectron… Taking inspiration from iconic 80’s plush ‘My Pet Monster’, the absolutely gorgeous 1″ tall mini figure has been sprayed in a scrupulous mix of metallic blue and pink Monster Kolor sprays, finished with tight ice blue, silver, black and orange detailing. Unfortunately not available for sale, we do however have a number of other Disarticulator x Topheroy collabs that will be in the near future… so be sure to keep checking back for more info soon!

With the start of another month comes yet another awesome new figure from IroNilla’s ongoing Universe of Violence series, this time around coming in the form of Beetle Punk from Ironhaus Pro‘s Jimmy Rommel. In line with the latest slew of releases, the muscle bound beast comes with removable cowl accessory that will be offered up in both matching and mixed colours. Cast by Eric Nilla in a flexible keshi-style rubber, the figure will be touching down in the Nilla store (barring any difficulties!) on Sunday, May 5th for $14 plus shipping…

Featuring a removable Savros helmet and (post mutation!) insect wings, Shredder’s henchman has been faithfully reproduced from the original Turtles comics, coming with a custom sculpted head and realistic brown, black, blue and grey acrylic paint job. Featured here in a near complete state last week, it came with great pleasure this morning to find that Dr Death‘s long awaited debut toy has just been revealed in all it’s finished glory… Now known as Mutant Steve, the absolutely incredible 5.5″ figure has been hand cast in resin featuring some pretty unique design quirks- the most noticeable being the hilarious Mutagen-Man inspired floating cranium! Limited to just 6 pieces, all of which sold out during production, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for another run in the near future. In the mean time though, Dr Death has stated that an all-new design is just around the corner- expect the full lowdown soon…

Hot off the heals of the Viper Ashuraman paint-up we posted last week, Adam Pratt aka Small Angry Monster has put his hand to yet another 2 custom bootleg mini figures, this time around turning his attentions to Eric Nilla x Wolf Voigt’s Muscles of the Universe line… Taking the series’ Skeletor and He-Man, Adam decided to remain faithful to the original MOTU colours, albiet with an evil twist- replacing MOTU’s main protagonist with rotten doppelganger Faker! Created for a private collector, Adam has stated that anyone interested in bagging a similar set can hit him up through his IG feed here– you’ll need to grab a copy of the figures over at the Eric Nilla store first though!

As a way of saying thank you for his ~~fans~~ minions continued support, Jimmy Rommel of Ironhaus Productions has revealed that a number of his most popular figures are to be rereleased through a special ‘exclusives’ program entitled Ironhaus: BLACK. Consisting of a number of different toys from the numerous lines Jimmy has worked on, these are due to run in smaller numbers with a slightly higher pricetag- the upside being that a whole host of extras will be bundled in with each release including exclusive mini comics, companion figures, t-shirts, stickers and a whole lot more… The first release will be coming in the form of the pictured H.O.R.D.E set- keep your eyes peeled for full release details soon!
