Jon over at the newly opened Rampage Studios is proud to present the gallery/shop space’s second art and toy event, the Todd Robertson aka Mechavirus Custom Show! Featuring a number of customs from the kaiju king of mecha, including pieces from RAMPAGE TOYS, Uamou, Blobpus, Frenzy, Pico Pico and Maxtoy Co, the various sofubis will also be joined by a special ‘Rampage’ painted run of Robertson’s popular Ammonaito resin. Opening it’s doors on Friday, March 15th at 7pm, any of the show’s remaining pieces will be heading to the online store the following week. Stay tuned for a full reveal soon…

Hot off the heels of the recently posted ‘Dots Dinos‘ sofubis, D-LUX proudly presents his latest custom run, featuring the ever popular Dead Beet from Scott Tolleson x October Toys… Limited to just 5 pieces, 1 of the original full-size sofubi plus 4 ‘Baby’ 1.5″ minis, each has been given the full Monster Kolor workout in a mixture of metallic red, teal and blue sprays with a subtle black rub. After just over a month since their release, Bryan Borgman’s awesome Kaiju Kaos ‘Smackdown’ mini figures are finally starting to receive the love they deserve from the custom toy community, with the first fully painted set coming from the more than capable hands of Ersico… Designed, sculpted and cast by Papagrim Toys‘ Steve Patt, each of the 2.5″ resin mini figures has been given the artist’s signature treatment of earthy washes, black rubs and tight detailing to produce the incredible pieces you see above. It’s been a while since we last heard from the otherworldly talented Daniel Yu, so it came with great pleasure today to find he’s just finished a whole slew of diverse pieces- the first of which we bring to you today in the form of this beautiful Ojisan custom sofubi! One of the most unique takes on the popular Grody Shogun figure to date, Daniel has opted out of the traditional hand-sprayed route, instead opting for a dizzying amont of additional sculpting and a super-vivid hand brushed paint scheme. No news as to whether this little guy will ever be available (we’re guessing he was created for a private commission), but if you’re interested in bagging a similar piece we suggest getting in contact with Daniel through his blog as soon as possible- the waiting list is already several months long! Born out of a love for Mexican lucha toys, up and coming custom bootleggers Scraped Resin are proud to present their debut line, the Battling Bastards! Starting with the series’ main protagonist, Ultimate Carlos, the resin figure has been kit-bashed from a vintage Joker and lucha toy, coming cast in a staggering total of 8 separate parts. Initially available in a striking marbled ‘Noir’ edition of 6, each hand finished piece will be sold blind-bagged with a ‘bad-ass’ numbered header. An ingenius kit-bash featuring a vintage Star Wars Red Squadron figure (TBC) and Remco’s ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’, the custom resin bootleg is due to be making it’s debut at the Flatties booth in an exclusive (as yet unrevealed) colourway. “Bronze” Dita the Sphynx// The first of many custom Ditas that we suspect will be featuring at the con, this beautiful one-off piece has been given the signature UME “bronze” finish. Standing at around 7″ tall and coming with articulation in the neck, the beautifully weathered figure comes hand cast and painted by Rich.
Lionel the Evil Origami// Created as part of a ToyCon exclusive custom project, Lionel is based on the original Ox resin figure designed by Chris ‘Alto’ Dobson and hand cast by DMS. Featuring some additional sculpting in the instantly recognisable UME style, the piece has been given a vivid rust-red paint scheme with subtle yellow and black washes… Expect more details on the project soon!
The UME Greads// Rich has teamed up with Brian over at Deadhand Toys for a ToyCon exclusive batch of UME Greads. Limited to just 10 bagged and headed pieces, the highly popular resin has been given the full UME makeover, coming complete with newly sculpted eyelids plus the all-important bronze-oxide finish. Pricing and availability is still to be confirmed, so expect the full lowdown closer to the event.
Project X// A figure we hold close to our hearts here at Man-E-Toys (it’s what first got us in contact with our good friend Rich!), we were delighted to hear that Project X is set to be resurrected for the con. Originally conceived by RunDMB, the stunning figure was sculpted by Rich at the beginning of last year, with retooling (including some new articulation) commencing recently. It’s still not clear as to whether the figure will be making an appearance in a limited run or as a prototype at the event, but you can be sure that as soon as we hear anything, you guys will know about it first!

It’s been a while since we’ve featured any customs from UK graffiti artist Hoakser (or any platform customs for that matter!), so it came with great pleasure yesterday to find his latest piece nestled in our inbox, the rather sweet looking Nozzleface… Standing just under 3″ tall, the little guy has been created from an ingenius mash-up of Dudebox parts, modelling clay and an NY fat cap. Finished in Hoakser tried and tested beat-up weathered style, Nozzleface can be found in the Hoakser store right here for just £22.99 plus shipping… We here the artist has a slew of new pieces ready to go, so expect the full lowdown soon!

In celebration of their all-new look, Monster Kolor have teamed up with UME Toys and DuBose Art for the release of their very own mascot in resin! Sculpted by our good friend Richard Page over at UME Toys and prototyped/produced by Jonathan DuBose, the articulated figure stands at around 4″ tall, coming complete with removable pen, marker, brush and spray can accessories. Due to come cast in both solid and clear versions for a wide variety of custom applications, the figure will be touching down in the Monster Kolor store soon. Created as part of OneUp‘s horse-themed ‘Pandemonium’ group show this weekend, Jon over at Rampage Toys is proud to present his latest sofubi custom, the “Evolved” Ugly Unicorn! Looking like a blown up version of Rampage’s recent H.U.S.T.L.E entry, the Ugly Cenicorn, the incredible 4 legged piece has been fashioned from 2 UU sofubis expertly sculpted together with epoxy. Finished in Jon’s instantly recognisable gouache style using the tradition UU colours of yellow and red, the figure will be up for grabs at the show this Saturday, 23rd February… On top of the UU custom, Jon will also be unveiling a super-limited batch of Ugly Horseycon H.U.S.T.L.E’s, so be sure to stay tuned for an exclusive reveal tomorrow!

Wasting no time resting on their laurels after the hugely successful MOTUMU debut last month (get the full lowdown here), ManOrMonster? Studios come with their latest Warlord’s of Wor figure, the mighty Clawbber! Originally revealed in a mini-comic teaser way back in December (pictured), the apparent adversary of Bog-Nar has been created using a mixture of kitbashed 5.5″ action figure parts and original sculpting. Cast in resin by ManOrMonster?’s Brandon Michael Barker, it appears that the piece will once again feature a staggering total of 11 articulated neo-mag parts, each 100% compatible and interchangeable with all ManOrMonster? lines… No news on availability or pricing as of yet, so be sure to keep checking the Warlord’s of Wor blog here for more information soon.

Taking the leap into resin casting last year, Taylored Curiosities‘ Penny Taylor has built up a huge following through her adorable micro-sized figures, so with ToyCon UK just around the corner the artist has decided to take the little guys one step further… a she proudly introduces the Giant Monster Embryos! Essentially the exact same design as her first hand sculpted creation, the 1.2″ tall Monster Embryo, the figure has been faithfully reproduced in a MUCH larger scale- measuring in at 6″ tall, 8″ wide and a whopping 2.5kg in weight! With production duties handed over to Creo Design, the first batch will be debuting at ToyCon in the OG Brilliant Blue colourway. Created as part of the Art Whino Gallery‘s upcoming “Art Without Borders” group show this weekend, Plaseebo kindly shares details of his latest custom piece, the Moleortise mash-up… Standing 5″ high, the figure utilises a heavily altered Munny body, Molezilla head and originally sculpted, shell-studded back piece.
