Once again featuring the highly sought after Jellybot 2.0 and Tuttz resin figures, the DC Comics inspired pieces have been hand painted by Jelly Empire’s Selina Briggs in the superhero duo’s signature green and black colours, coming complete with some awesome additional sculpting, plus bow and arrow accessories… Sold during the con yesterday, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some more DC pairings in the near future!
MAN-E-NEWS// Lab Assistant Steve and The Eyeball Snatcher from Rawk Toys…
Avant garde resin maestros Rawk Toys kindly share details of there latest slabs of resin genius, with the introduction of Lab Assistant Steve and The Eyeball Snatcher! Sculpt, cast and handpainted by Izok, the seemingly normal looking Steve is more than meets the eye… because upon turning him around, a large parasitic worm-type creature is revealed that appears to be using the poor lab assistant as a host! Coming complete with 2 removable heads (the rather pale looking Steve, plus the bug-eyed worm), the awesome looking figure will be touching down in the Rawk Toy store this Wednesday (October 17th) at 12pm PST… Joining Steve, Rawk’s Skylr will also be dropping his latest creeped-out piece, the strangely cute Eyeball Snatcher. Cast in a clear green resin and finished in a unique ‘loose’ paint style, the sweat-band wearing monster will be touching down at the same time as Steve for a undisclosed price. As well as the joint release, Wednesday will also see the start of the Rawktober promotion over on the Rawk Toys store, whereby the guys will be giving away a special Trick or Treat bag with each and every purchase- sweet! Stay tuned for more Rawk madness soon…

The ever busy Ironmask has just revealed images of his current work-in-progress sculpts, as always featuring a few forthcoming characters that we recognise (the long awaited Hell Turtle in particular!) alongside a whole heap that we don’t. Most appear to be figures for upcoming Universe of Violence and Gorewad Monster releases, but it was the Mega Blocks custom/kit-bash that really caught our eye… the combination of huge wings, muscular body and tiny head coming straight out of a Greek myth. No news on when any of these will be available, but Ironmask has insured it’ll be sooner rather than later… expect more info as soon as we get it!
MAN-E-NEWS// The KAWS Astroboy Companion…
We very rarely feature KAWS‘ work here on M-E-T, but upon seeing the press for his latest figure, we simply couldn’t resist… An ingenious take on one of our all-time favourite cartoon characters, Tezuka’s Astroboy, the Companion figure was originally created as a micro-run a while back (one of THE mecha KAWS pieces!) which is now thankfully making it into full production. Due to touch down in the Original Fake store (and online) on Saturday, October 27th, Astroboy Companion will set you back just 18,090yen (approx. US$231) plus shipping…

Absolute perfection in terms of both technicality and creativity, the beard-fisted master has been painstakingly sculpted in 2″ mini figure scale, featuring an incredible level of detail that blows anything else we’ve seen right out of the water. Originally intended as a submission for OMFG! Series 3, the figure sadly didn’t make the cut off point, leaving the figure in a state of limbo… that was until our very own Tru:Tek and Lee over at Bigmantoys stepped in! Now set to feature as one of three characters in a new scrolling beat-em up inspired mini figure line, Beard-Fisto will be joined by sculpts from both Man-E-Toys and Bigmantoys, coming complete with a whole host of accessories, trading cards and authentic retro videogame box art… Expect more exclusive updates VERY soon!

Originally sculpted and kit-bashed almost 10 years ago, the Lovecraft inspired beast had been gathering dust on Staszkiw’s shelf until a chance encounter with Mr Nilla… Now finally making the transition from one-off kit-bash to fully fledge mini figure, the awesome little piece has been cast by Eric in an authentic keshi style rubber in his usual mix of standard colours, neons, and of course, the all important flesh tone. No news on pricing or edition size, so your best bet is to keep checking the Nilla store for its appearance in the very near future…
