MAN-E-NEWS// The Rampage Toys x Splurrt NYCC exclusives…

Following our look at the Rampage Diagomis on Friday (check them here), Jon Malmstedt of Rampage Toys has revealed yet more NYCC exclusive goodies, this time in the form of a whole bunch of insane Splurrt customs! Taking the highly popular Usir, Diggler and new addition, the Mecha Brain Cadaver Kid, Jon has really gone to town on these guys, working his magic with both the spray and gouache to create a bunch of vibrant and totally unique pieces. Still only the tip of the iceberg of what Jon has in store for NYCC, expect collaborations with Uamou, Mechvirus, Max Toy Co, plus new Rampage Toys resin, the Super Pachi Micro Cupcake Kaiju to follow very soon…

MAN-E-NEWS// The MOTU M.U.S.C.L.E customs from Voigt x Nilla…

Originally created back in early 2011, Wolf Voigt’s (of SolarColorDust fame) MOTU M.U.S.C.L.E figures have become some of the most highly sought after customs in the mini figure community to date. Produced in very limited batches of resin, the pair of figures (H-Man and Skeletor), were created by shrinking down the original MOTU action figures and kit-bashing them with familiar M.U.S.C.L.E’s. Unfortunately Wolf left the customising scene to go onto bigger and better things soon after the project, meaning that no new figures were ever produced, and many enthusiasts were left without their fabled rubber versions… well that was until a certain Mr Nilla stepped in to not only reproduce both He-Man and Skeletor, but also to introduce a whole new figure, the mighty Beastman! Due to come cast by Eric in normal and neon rubber, with additional glow and thermal changers from Wolf, the figures should hopefully be touching down in the Nilla store at some point next month. Keep track of his blog here for further updates!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Jon over at Rampage Toys, so it came with great relief yesterday to find that he’s been working on a whole slew of new customs for NYCC next month… first up, the insane Rampage x Guumon Diagomis! What has got to be THE best painted run of Guumon’s awesome neo-kaiju figure we’ve seen to date, Jon has gone for a mix of contrasting lime green and firey orange sprays, with a meticulous dark green rub… Apparently these have also been cast in a glow-in-the-dark vinyl, so we wait with baited breath to see how that rub performs in the dark! Due to go on sale exclusively at the Tenacious Toys booth (#3121), the Rampage Diagomis will be joined by a massive selection of Max Toy Co, Splurrt and of course, Rampage customs, many of which we will be revealing over the weekend…

MAN-E-NEWS// The return of Small Angry Monster…

Today we breathe a sigh of relief… as our good friend Adam Pratt aka Small Angry Monster announces his return to the art toy scene with a whole slew of awesome new work! Joining the highly anticipated custom Tuttz and Monster Magnets which should be debuting at NYCC next month, Adam will be opening the new Small Angry Monster store this Friday at 10am EST with both Mechavirus and Rivet Wars customs to kick proceedings off… Originally featured as WIP’s a couple of months back (check them out here), Adam was given 4 Ammonaitos by Todd Robertson aka Mechavirus for a special custom run. Sitting alongside the beautiful fungus encrusted Ammonaito that we originally revealed here, Adam has painted the other single in a hugely contrasting style, choosing an authentic copper finish with turquoise copper oxide weathering… Now interestingly, the third piece, which combines 2 Ammonaitos to create the skull shape seen to the right, has incorporated both styles to create a truly unique piece.

Our first encounter with Adam way back last year was through Rivet Wars creator Ted Terranova, so it came with great pleasure to find that he’s been hard at work finishing off customs of the original 2 RW creations, the Vert Tank and oversized Grunt. Coming with a whole host of sculpted and kit-bashed accessories including new guns, pouches and even a cigarette in the case of the Grunt, the pair are easily some of Adam’s best RW work to date. Currently in talks with Mr Terranova with regards to future projects, we’re guessing it wont be long until we see more from the pair… (fingers crossed for a custom Rocket Bike and Mono Wheel 2 pack!)
