MAN-E-NEWS// The “Quack” Count Duckula inspired mash-up from Healeymade…
A recurring feature on David Healey aka Healeymade‘s Instagram feed for quite some time now, we thought we’d try to shine some light on the resin wizard’s awesome vampire mash-up, Quack… A loving tribute to both vintage horror and cult 80’s cartoon Count Duckula, the figure appears to have been bootlegged from a ‘Universal Monsters’ Count Dracula, coming complete with fanged duck bill and webbed feet! Pictured here in a beautiful marbled opaque/clear green, the figure should (hopefully!) be seeing a limited release soon… This particular version took 3 attempts to get right, so we’re guessing we wont be seeing too many like it! Anyone interested in bagging any of Healeymade’s work can contact him through his Instagram feed at @healeymade…
MAN-E-NEWS// Skinner, Doktor A and Frank Kozik “The Big Suck Up!” figure reveals…

Well today DKE Toys have revealed the works of four participating artists, including Skinner, Doktor A, Frank Kozik, and the previously featured Jason Freeny! As predicted, each artist has taken a very different approach in customising their allotted 50 Sucklord figures, ranging from the stunning Hulk inspired sprays of Skinner, Frank Kozik’s kaiju squid heads and Doktor A’s signature sculpted ‘tache and riveted chest plate… We’re guessing DKE will be revealing more designs in the lead up to the show’s November 3rd opening at DesignerCon 2012, so be sure to stay locked on the dedicated blog here for more information.

MAN-E-NEWS// The Mini Grim Creepers from Tim Stephson…

Standing at just 3″ tall (around half the size of the original), Tim has scaled the slick looking creature down perfectly… even featuring the same articulated joints in the arms! Initially offered up in a limited run of 12 DIY blanks through Tim’s Instagram feed last night, the little guys should hopefully be making a return through the Creeper Factory store sometime soon… As an incentive to get the first round of minis painted up, Tim is offering a full sized Grim Creeper to the person with the best design- expect a gallery of the various entries some time in the near future!

Following in the footsteps of Ben Spencer, Steve Seeley, Japanese Monster Bad! and Bigman, Brandon Michael Barker aka ManOrMonster has revealed details of his first MOTU inspired designer toy venture, the Warlords of Wor! Pictured here is the first prototype of what will be the first 5.5″ action figure to feature in the range… Whilst details on the project are scarce at the moment, Brandon has stated that he will be crafting a story to fit around the various characters, so hopefully we can expect a lot more in the future! Whilst the proto does seem a little rough at the moment (this is the first after all!), it does have loads of potential… and judging by the pic, this one will come fully articulated! Stay locked on the newly opened Warlords of Wor blog for further developments.
The backstory// Our world is a very different place ever since the Timepocalypse, although it happened so long ago there isn’t anyone alive who can remember Before. But we have stories. Some call them myths or fairy tales; fantasies sung softly to lull children to sleep, or whispered around campfires to frighten them. Others have built religions, philosophical and political movements, and raised armies based on these legends.
The story of the Timepocalypse tells of a man, known only as the Traveller to most, who had the power to walk between worlds, moving backwards and forward through time and space like you or I cross the street. Some people say he was trying to help us, others will argue he was trying to destroy us. Either way, something… happened. Something terribly wrong. Our Elders, our scientists, seers and sorcerers all agree that in the moment the Traveller disappeared, the All of time and space collapsed in on itself. Where once these things were linear, planar, confined to dimensions we could comprehend, now they were fluid, unpredictable… and terrible. Now it’s as if all of time is happening at once. Some of it we understand from the Knowledge of Before that’s kept safe in the Great Library, but so much is still far beyond our grasp. The world Outside is a terrifying place full of nomads, monsters and great beasts. It’s ravaged by devastating Time Storms that rip apart everything in their path, displacing time and space in their wake. But here in the City we’re safe from the Outside. The most trusted and talented of our Elders work wonderful magics to keep the Barrier running that protects our City and our people from the chaos of the Outside. And our bravest and fiercest Warlords fight to ensure our borders aren’t breached by evils from the other side. This place is the last great City of man. It’s a place of peace and hope, of science and wonder. This is our world. This is Wor.

Spotted over at the Triclops blog at the weekend comes the latest figure from The Sucklord‘s old intern, Weird Luke! Entitled Marlboro Man, the bootlegged Grim Reaper figure has been cast in clear red resin, coming with a cigarette inspired orange, white and ash grey paint job… Why the clear red resin when the figure’s been fully painted? MAN-E-NEWS// WIP Soundwave one-off sculpt from UME Toys…
With the recent announcement of Hasbro’s Transformers licensing agreement with both Super7 and the Loyal Subjects, it only seemed fitting that Rich over at UME Toys should finally bring his popular Soundwave illustration to life… and judging by the above WIP shot, this will be the one take on the popular franchise that is sure to not disappoint! Very similar in style to Rich’s 2011 Iron Man sculpture (which just so happened to be the first piece of Rich’s work we ever featured!), the beautiful piece has taken hours of painstaking sculpting and sanding to achieve a stunning “perfectly imperfect” geometric style. Currently awaiting a final lick of paint plus authentic hand cut decals, Soundwave should be revealed in his final state at some point later this week…

MAN-E-NEWS// The Stubs and Lulu resin figures from Jai & Jai x Pretty In Plastic…
The Jai & Jai Gallery is pleased to announce the release of its debut resin art figures, the beautiful Stubbs+Lulu Chow Chows. The first of many proposed collectible art figures to come from the Jai sisters, the 4.5″ tall pieces have been fabricated by art toy visionaries Pretty in Plastic, with each set coming lovingly packaged in a handcrafted bamboo box. Limited to just 60 pieces worldwide, Stubbs+Lulu will be available at the gallery’s opening reception tonight (Saturday, July 28th) from 7 PM until 10 PM, with any remaining heading to the newly opened Jai & Jai store soon for $135 plus shipping…
“The figures are based on their real-life Chow Chow counterparts, a pair of intensely loyal dogs that are as much family as the Jai sisters themselves. Stubbs, the regal and smoothly-coated male, stands with an air of peace-loving ease and silent authority; LuLu’s fierce energy radiates from her crazy spikes and defensive stance. Both of these figurines project the cunning and confidence of the real-life dogs, who have brought luck and love to the lives of the Jai sisters. As Chinese emperors were buried with terra-cotta soldiers for protection in the afterlife, let Stubbs + LuLu serve as your protectors in this life.”
