DKE Toys have revealed yet another exclusive figure headed to next month’s SDCC, artist Mike Egan‘s debut toy release, “Bones”. Manufactured and hand painted by the mighty Luke Rook (Grody Shogun) in Japan, “Bones” takes Egan’s signature “Dia de los Muertos” style skull character and transforms it into a beautifully realised 8″ sofubi. MAN-E-NEWS// UME Toys’ “Friday 13th” Halloween in July release update…
As mentioned in our earlier post here, Rich over at UME Toys has a whole lot more planned than just the debut of Hugo Shortpants and Belemey come Friday 13th next month… so without further ado, we bring you a quick rundown on the developments since our OG Hugo reveal last week! To celebrate bringing halloween to July, Rich will be holding a competition with a whole selection of UME goodies, the first to be revealed coming in the form of the beautiful one-off skull and crossbones sculpt pictured above. Last week we mentioned that a certain pumpkin-headed cutie would be getting the flocked treatment ala Longbottom… well after a hard slog in the UME resin lab, Rich proudly reveals the first furry Hugo! Still to receive a lick of pink and blue paint, the figure will (hopefully!) be sitting alongside a whole cast of bright orange flocked treats next month. Stay tuned for a final reveal soon…
As if the debut of Hugo and Belemey wasn’t enough, Rich introduces yet another original figure that will be making an appearance on the 13th, the adorable Russell Bone! We’re not sure if this guy will be offered up as a one-off sculpt or resin cast figure, so expect more details on the little fella soon. The clean lines and smooth shape of the skull are absolutely stunning on this piece… with our weakness for resin skulls, we keep our fingers crossed for a few cast up sans-body too!

Monsterforge is proud to reveal that the “Doughty-approved” Grimthraxx sets will finally be touching down next week. Consisting of an arm and head design that can be used in conjunction with the full range of Glyos parts to create the pictured figure, the gorgeous hand cast resin pieces have been produced by Steve Patt of Papagrim Toys (who is also currently working on our very own ‘Ed Skworm Vs. Min-E-Face!). Limited to an edition of just 13 for the first wave, the sets come blind bagged in a plethora of different unpainted clear and opaque tints. Priced at just $15 each, Grimthraxx will be dropping on the Monsterforge store on Monday, June 25th at 8pm EST…

Anyone following David Healey aka Healeymade‘s Instagram feed over the last month or so would have seen the gun-totting Vrah pop up a few times… well we can reveal that the stunning action figure mash-up will be making his debut at DKE‘s SDCC booth (#4728) in the exclusive “Citric Summer Acid” colourway! Cast in a clear marbled yellow/red resin with black boot, strap and gun detailing, the 4″ figure will be landing at the DKE booth on Friday, July 13th at 1pm. Limited to an edition of just 12 pieces, Vrah “Citric Summer Acid” edition will be available for $80…
MAN-E-NEWS// The custom Grim Creeper from Adam Pratt…
Since the release of Tim Stephson’s Grim Creeper a couple of weeks back, we’ve begun to see a few artists get to work on the platform… with the latest coming from our good friend Adam Pratt! Making a few subtle sculpt alterations including boils and teeth using plumber’s spackle, Adam then painted the “biomechanical space zombie” using a mixture of green, grey, red and white acrylics and weathering powder. No news as to whether this piece will be available (it’s currently winging its way back to Tim), so be sure to keep an eye on the newly opened Creeper Factory for developments…

Yosiell Lorenzo has revealed that he will be releasing a very special custom series of his Poison Sweet figure, the adorable Sickling Edition! Taking the unmistakable vintage aesthetic from the highly sought after Sickling resins, Yosiel has painted up 7 of the 6″ tall vinyl figures including a rare Albino variant. Coming complete with new custom packaging, cupcake mini figure, plus an enclosed poem telling the story of how the naughty Sicklings kidnapped the Poison Sweet to do their evil bidding! Priced at just $200 each plus shipping (with the one-off Albino coming in at $250), the customs will be touching down on Yosiell’s store in the next couple of hours (11am PST)…

After months of preparation, Jon Malmstedt over at Rampage Toys can finally reveal the first vinyl test shots of his latest sofubi creations, the Cyclops Dinosaurs! Standing at a mini-sized 3″ (Anklo around 1.5″), the beautifully realised creations have been given a number of articulated joints, including the T-Rex’s super cute arms! Due to be making an appearance in painted form at this year’s SDCC, Jon will be offering up pre-orders for the trio in his shop soon… giving collectors a choice of either green, purple and orange upainted vinyl! As if last week’s mighty Manzilla wasn’t enough (find out more here), Tyler from Nama-Niku steps up once again with yet another stunning kaiju inspired M.U.S.C.L.E custom… the Pterodact-Kill! As with Manzilla, Tyler has meticulously grafted the head wings and feet from a vintage Japanese miniature onto a keshi body. Painstakingly cast and packaged by Muscle Things (each cast has a reported 3 day turnaround!), Pterodact-Kill should be heading to eBay in extremely limited quantities soon. Looks like Hugo Shortpants will be joined by a little friend come Friday 13th next month, as Richard Page over at UME Toys reveals a work-in-progress image of his latest creation… the adorable Belemey! Touted as a “fez wearing wise guy”, the feather tailed creature features the same unmistakable UME touch that has made the recent Martin and Jason figures such hot properties… No news as of yet with regards to pricing (we’re guessing around the same as Jason, £18) or the different variants that will be on offer, so be sure to keep checking the UME blog (and here!) for further updates…

It appears that Shea Brittain of FrankenFactory is creating a number of new Wolf Girl resins for her latest series of one-off “Artist Specials”, the latest coming in the form of the beautiful Tiger(Wolf)Girl. Standing at an impressive 7″ tall, the stunning take on the classic Little Red Riding Hood theme has been hand cast in clear orange resin by MANA Studios, with Shea on hand with a variety of standard and metallic Monster Kolor sprays. No firm news on release dates or pricing (expect to pay upwards of $85), so your best bet is to stay locked on Shea’s twitter feed for more information… Can’t wait to grab a Wolf Girl? Then you’ll be glad to know that both FrankenFactory and TAG are stocking a wide variety of different colourways and editions right now.

With the release of the MAN-E-TOYS Nilla x Niku exclusives, plus our very own ‘Ed Skworm Vs. Min-E-Face 2 pack looming ever nearer, we’ve decided to take a closer look at another Eric Nilla creation, the Deka Sneagator Claw. Paying homage to the iconic M.U.S.C.L.E figure, Eric has perfectly recreated the claw in an oversized 4″ Deka format (check out the scaled up sprue “scars”… true attention to detail!) . Hand sculpted and cast in an authentic keshi style rubber, the Deka Sneagator Claw is still available in a wide variety of opaque and clear colours for just $35 plus shipping. As if the slew of Ammonaitos this week weren’t enough (find out more here and here), Todd Robertson aka Mechavirus proudly presents his latest Grody custom, the Mecha Brain Monster Kara! Featuring a mixture of clear body parts from the Monster and Karakuri sofubis, Todd has painted the glistening beast in a mixture of neon and metallic Monster Kolor to dazzling effect… all well and good, but the real pièce de résistance doesn’t reveal itself until you take a closer look at the Monster’s exposed head- revealing an incredible custom sculpt mechanised brain inside! Brian Mahony aka Guumon is putting the final touches to the latest batch of Daigomis, the “Bone Glow” Vicious Fun exclusives! Standing at an impressive 9.5″ and weighing in at 15 ounces, the monstrous kaiju beast has been cast in GID vinyl, coming complete with a pro black rub. The detail in the piece is an absolute joy to behold, and with the lack of the usual neo-kaiju style paint job, the sculpt really comes to the forefront of the design… we had know idea there was so much detail!
