MAN-E-NEWS// ‘Rise of the Beasts’ mini figures from Little Rubber Guys x Plastic !magination…

Inspired by the recent resurgence of  M.U.S.C.L.E inspired lines such as OMFG! and SLUGs, Jon Karis of Little Rubber Guys has been working on a Kickstarter campaign with Plastic !magination to produce his own series, the Rise of the Beasts. Reaching the required project funding of $11,000 yesterday, the Rise of the Beasts is set to feature 4 60mm tall figures; Lion, Gorilla, Horned Toad and Komodo Dragon in a variety of colours and editions. Primarily influenced by the 1986 Battle Beast line, the ROTBs are to be cast in hard wearing PVC, will come with similar articulation to the 80’s classics, and will also feature the usual accessories including swords, axes and maces.

Anyone interested in securing either painted or blank editions of the figures should know it’s still not too late to get your pledge in. Offering a wide variety of tiers starting from $1 ($45 gets you both painted and unpainted sets), the ROTB Kickstarter will be closing on March 14th at 10:45AM EDT…

“Rise of the Beasts is a new collectible offering in the spirit of classic 80’s toylines like M.U.S.C.L.E., Battle Beasts, He-Man and Thundercats! Savage Beasts that radiate power combine with ancient technology long lost to modern man. Whether you are a fan of mini-monos or small painted, articulated figures, you will LOVE these figures!

The first 3 beast’s heroic body styles were partially inspired by classic toy lines like Thundercats, Sectaurs and Masters of the Universe. The 4th is suggestive of the fantastic Battle Beasts line with its squat, muscular proportions. Series 1 will be made of PVC (like M.U.S.C.L.E.s, Battle Beasts, etc.), approximately 60mm tall, available in both painted and non-painted formats, with a weapon and joints at the shoulders. Here are a few images showing the figures.”- Jon Karis
