Realising that one of the most common yokai in Japanese folk lore – the tsukumogami* known as Karakasa – has seen surprisingly few renditions in toy form, Science Patrol have decided to redress the balance with their very own take on the cycloptic umbrella ghost! Pictured here as a finished wax prototype, the little guy appears to be in-scale with Science Patrol’s previous yokai-inspired figures at around 3″ tall, coming with a simple, 2-part design and an indent for the series’ familiar dolls eye inset. Set to debut in soft vinyl soon-ish, you can be sure that as soon as we have word on the first release, you guys will be the first in the know…

Rich Montanari Jr over at Mutant Vinyl Hardcore has revealed that he’s teaming up with artist Chris Dondin for an all-new release… the Sludgie Mad Ball! Designed and sculpted by Chris based on MVH’s original Sludge Demon – along with a little nod to the DX in the form of a skull located on the back – the piece, once finished, is set to come cast in the same latex foam used in the production of the original 80’s Madball toys. Still in the early stages of prototyping at the moment, we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for more information on the figure soon. Here’s hoping the figure is well received, as we’re told a whole line of MVH Mad Balls could follow!

Originally debuting at Wonderfestival back in February, the “Zombie Army” keshi from up and coming keshi outfit FTWR Toy is finally available worldwide! Based on FTWR’s recent Bikkuriman-style sticker release, the ingenious 2.5″ tall design comes complete with a couple of neat design features inspired by knock-off kinkeshi- an embedded blade in the shoulder and a lead pipe that can be removed from the chest! Produced in a selection of flesh, green and pink rubber, the little guy comes packed with the aforementioned holographic sticker plus booklet for just $27 plus shipping. Interested in picking one up? With the first round releasing to instant sell-out success early last year, Mab Greaves is proud to reveal that she’s been hard at work on a new batch of Blurble‘s Sparrow resin figures! Entitled the “Illuminati Doughnut Sparrows”, the fun little guys – digitally sculpted by iamscumbag and cast by Dubose Art – have been treated to meticulously detailed pink, grey and red paint apps courtesy of Mab, each coming complete with a miniscule custom bat belt buckle and iced doughnut in-hand. Limited to an edition of just 8 pieces this time around, stock will be dropping on both Mab‘s and Blurble‘s stores this Sunday, May 31st for an undisclosed sum. Mirock Toy have teamed up with Medicom for their latest officially licensed series, this time around taking on Nippon Animation’s classic 70’s anime, World Masterpiece Theatre. Kicking things off with a bang, the guys have decided to focus on one of the most popular cartoons in the series, “Rascal Raccoon”, an adaption of iconic author Sterling North’s semi-biographical novel “Rascal”. Featuring both the young North and his furry companion, the pair – standing at around 7″ and 2.5″ respectively – have been designed and sculpted by Mirock’s Kaneko Yowohei, coming cast in a white soft vinyl and painted in an authentic palette of muted tones. Currently available to Japanese customers through the Medicom Toy store for just 6,841yen ($60), international orders can be placed through Rakuten right here until Tuesday, June 30th…

Duo Gero! For those that missed our first post, the guys kindly share a little background about the project… “Imagine Fake Baron is a real tv show, whereby in each episode Fake Baron will be fighting different enemy. It is a collaboration project between Awesome Toy and many other sofubi makers around the world. In each battle set, we will be painting other sofubi brand’s character and the partnered brand doing the same for our Fake Baron…” Teaming up with none other than Slave One for the first “episode”, the set features a Tetsujin-inspired FAKE BARON complete with sprays from Slave One over blue vinyl, plus a pair of purple and green Geros with paint apps from Awesome Toy inspired by both the infamous Roswell alien autopsy and Marx Toys’ classic Great Garloo figure. Ahead of both Pigumon and the Red king making their “Rampage Ultra Kaiju” debut over the next few weeks, the second figure in the official, Tsuburaya-licensed series – Aboras – is set to receive his second outing this month as a Medicom Toy exclusive! Designed/sculpted by Rampage Toy‘s Jon Malmstedt and produced by Marmit, the 5″ tall figure has been cast in a deep purple, complete with metallic red, yellow and blue sprays. Going on sale through the Medicom Toy store on Sunday, June 7th for just 4,000yen ($33) plus shipping, due to licensing restrictions we’re guessing that international orders will have to be placed through a forwarding service, M-World. With summer finally starting to rear it’s head, resin artist Peter Kato has decided to celebrate with his latest round resin mini figures… the Sunshine EyeHeart Bunnies! Featuring Peter’s all-new “EyeHeart” design, the 3″ tall figure has been digitally sculpted, prototyped and cast in a summery light yellow resin this time around, coming complete with minimal hand painted detailing in neon pink acrylics. Releasing at Mandarake‘s Siryosei Expo a couple of weeks back, the debut sofubi from promising newcomers Delta Vinyl – fun looking Nannou – has just received its first worldwide release as a Medicom Toy exclusive! Standing at around 6.5″ tall and coming with 4 points of articulation, the beast has been produced in a GID soft vinyl this time around, coming with green, orange and metallic sprays and packed with a “capsule” omake. Currently available in Japan through the Medicom Toy store for 6,000yen ($54), international customers are going to need to fill in the dedicated lottery form right here before June 10th to be in with a chance at bagging the figure…

Originally teased here way back in February, the second figure in Uncut‘s ongoing “Splatter Retsuden” series – aptly titled “Mush Man” – had finally been revealed in-full! Inspired by cult horror flick Return of the Living Dead 2’s “Tarman” character, the Bikkuriman-style keshi appears to be the same size as the previously released Splatter Retsuden (Boropushi/Cropsey) at 2.5″, this time around coming complete with a mini brain accessory.
