With the first batch of Elder Demons now winging their way to lucky collector’s homes, DeathCat Toys‘ Johan Ulrich has revealed that the series will be returning soon in 2 all-new colorways! Designed by DeathCat’s Johan Ulrich and sculpted by KtoKto, the pair – Oni Mira and the newly titled Red Pharaoh – have been heavily inspired by Bikkuriman and the classic Ma-Ba Zombies toy line, sculpted in-scale at around 3″ tall and coming with a split torso design housed in an authentic window box. Produced in a mix of pink and grey rubber by none other than DuboseArt for this second outing, a total of 20 sets of each (TBC) will be making their way to the DeathCat store in the near future- keep track of Johan’s Instagram feed here for full release details soon!

With our very own exclusive “Albino” Rotten-X coming to the Man-E-Toys store this Thursday, February 26th – check our original post here for full release details – we thought we’d share yet another upcoming version of the figure, Triclops’ “Milky Way” edition! Featuring the Triclops designed/Zectron sculpted “Rotten Tomato” ball as a head, the stunning “X” body figure has been jointly produced by Rampage Toys and Skull Head Butt, standing at around 9″ tall and coming with 5 points of articulation. Marking the figure’s third colorway following the previously released NYCC exclusive “red” and Lucky Bag “green”, Rotten-X has been cast in a gorgeous milky light pink with red lamé this time around, coming with a stunning mix of metallic red, gold, purple and blue sprays courtesy of Rampage Toys. Limited to a run of just 10 pieces, these guys will be up for grabs through Triclops soon for just $95 each plus shipping. Having recently debuted at Wonderfestival Winter 2015, KtoKto‘s Kaibutsu (Monster) Series 2 returns for it’s first official online release! Inspired by a mix of both classic monster designs and 80s Japanese horror toys – including the iconic MaBa Zombies – this second wave once again features a total of 3 different designs; a quad-eyed Werewolf, Creature from the Black Lagoon and a de-tombed mummy, each sculpted in the classic finger puppet style and produced in an uncapped soft vinyl. Cast in an unpainted green to mimmick the past Series 1 release, the little guys have been packed with a header rather than the usual box format this time around, coming in at a wallet friendly 3,700yen ($31) plus shipping. Having debuted and instantly sold out at Wonderfestival just a couple of weeks back, YS Planning‘s Ragaburugu of the Temple of Doom series returns for it’s first official online release! Designed and sculpted by the original sculptor of Neclos Fortress, Shigeo Uchida, the first wave of 3″ finger puppet-style minis features a total of 3 different designs inspired by the vintage mini figure series’ extensive back catalog of figures. Due to touch down at the Fat Moes store this coming Saturday, February 28th at 8pm Japan time, a total of 3 different colorways will be up for grabs; the previously released “OG” in Neclos’ classic metallic green, teal and flesh, an unpainted blank metallic light brown, and metallic brown with a dark brown rub. Whilst orders through the store are restricted to Japanese customers only, collectors in the West can contact Fat Moes through the site with their enquiries…

MAN-E-NEWS// Super7’s officially licensed Astro-Mu 5 reboot announced…

After nearly 8 years on the drawing board, Super7 are proud to reveal that they’ve been given the green-light to bring back Nakajima’s iconic Astro-Mu 5 series! A huge inspiration for some of the most highly sought after sofubi around at the moment – Paul Kaiju’s Mr REE and Ilu Ilu’s Tokio Supernova in particular – the classic 70’s soft vinyl line consisted of a core group of 6 humanoid figures, each coming complete with removable helmets, gloves and boots, and featuring a neat “nodding” function with the press of a button on the chest. Whilst nothing is known about the project apart from the imminent March 6th release date, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the original 6 will feature in some form or another… Keep track of the Super7 blog here for more details on this long awaited project soon!

The guys over at apparel brand Scumbags & Superstars have teamed up with GUUMON for a special micro-run of custom “Titanium” Skull Chiefs! Standing at around 4″ tall (a little larger than a baseball), the mascot head figures have been produced in a chromed soft vinyl this time around, coming with a multitude of clear metallic sprays in GUUMON’s signature style. Koji Harmon over at Comet Debris is proud to reveal that he’ll be dropping not one, but two new figures in-store this weekend! First up, we have the breathtaking Kappa Borg… Produced in an unpainted clear soft vinyl, this mini-mid sized Kappa Kid has been treated to “mechanical engineering” by Chanmen in the form of a beautifully designed acetate insert, coming complete with a matching header card for just $30 a piece… Joining the ‘borg, Koji will also be unleashing a special “Frozen” version of KK’s bigger brother Kappa Shonen. Loosely inspired by the cult Disney film, the figure has been produced in a silver glitter vinyl with light and dark blue sprays, coming in at just $60. Coming a little late to the game, we bring you the third release in Uamou‘s ongoing “Half Galaxy” week, the Bastard sofubi mini! Designed by Studio Uamou and hand-painted by Master Goto, this breathtaking colorway blends both “black” and “metallic blue” variants of Uamou’s signature “Galaxy” paint app to dream-like effect. Currently available at Uamou’s Tokyo-based store alongside “Half Galaxy” versions of both Fortune Uamou and the classic Uamou and Boo (pictured below), the little Bastard has been priced at just 3,000yen ($25). First off, we’d like to give our regular readers a massive apology for the lack of coverage over the past few days, you have a word we’ll be back running full steam by the end of the week! Our absence hasn’t been without cause though, as we’ve been gearing up for not one, but two massive drops in-store next week. First up, we have the long-awaited arrival of the Man-E-Toys exclusive “Albino” Rotten-X… Featuring the Triclops designed/Zectron sculpted “Rotten Tomato” ball as a head, the stunning “X” body figure has been jointly produced by Rampage Toys and Skull Head Butt, standing at around 9″ tall and coming with 5 points of articulation. Next up we have the much anticipated first online release of The Disarticulators’ Oozeball sofubi! Designed by Tru:Tek and sculpted by Zectron, the loving tribute to Ooze-It, Madballs and Georges Méliès’ A Trip to the Moon has finally undergone full production over in Japan, with the first batch now ready and waiting to be sent out to those who preordered back in October/November. Produced in a super-squishy soft vinyl and fitted with a previously unannounced squeaker on the undercarriage (yep, you read that right!), the ball has initially been produced in 2 colorways; the OG “Ooze-It” green and NYCC exclusive “Moon Dust” grey/silver sparkle. Whilst the majority have already been called for, an undisclosed amount of each will be touching down alongside the “Albino” Rotten-X in the Man-E-Toys store next Thursday for just $45 each… But wait, there’s more! In the build up to the release, Tru:Tek will be offering up a 1/1 uncut “Moon Dust” test pull in a “hard” soft vinyl to one lucky Instagram follower- so be sure to keep track of his feed right here over the next couple of days to find out how you can snag this true collector’s piece!

Whilst the recently featured Oyasumi Punpun sofubi won’t be seeing an online release due to licensing restrictions, creator Science Patrol has revealed that a number of other figures from the recent Wonderfestival Winter 2015 will be up for grabs in-store this weekend! Seeing new editions of the artist’s hugely popular yokai inspired figures, flagship character, the benevolent hat Avalon, will be available in “Dark” and “Negalon” colorways for just $20 each, whilst old lantern Monochochin is set to come in a “GID” colorway complete with black rub and eye insert for $9. Famed Japanese collectibles manufacturer Kotobukiya have revealed that they’ll be unleashing a series of keshi-style figures based on Dustin Nguyen’s digital comic, Batman: Li’l Gotham! Officially licensed by DC Comics, the series of M.U.S.C.L.E inspired figures consists of 7 different designs; Joker, Catwoman, Nightwing, Robin, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and two variations of Batman; each of which have been produced in six different PVC color variations. Due to touch down in gachapon machines over in Japan on February 26th for just 350yen ($3) a throw, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a similarly priced Western release soon after…

Justin over at Hateball has revealed that he’ll have a whole slew of new products touching down online this week, including not one, but two new mini figure releases! First up, we have the debut of the “Therefore, Ghost”. A collaboration with our very own Tru:Tek, the “treasure box homage toy” has been booted from a 1.5″ tall vintage monochrome mini, featuring a revised, tri-eyed design etched onto the face. Produced in a bright white keshi-style rubber, the little guy will be touching down in the Hateball store right here at some point on Friday, February 13th for an undisclosed sum… Joining the ghost, Justin will also have a limited recast of his collaboration with Healeymade, “Revisionist: Unmuscle”. Featuring a total of 5 different kit-bashed and bootlegged M.U.S.C.L.E figures, each set has been cast in a solid red resin with one blue chase. Singapore-based artist Daniel Yu has just unveiled his latest mini figure release, introducing the Plague Oracle “Lonely Hearts Club” edition! Joining Daniel’s prolific back catalog of meticulously crafted Playmobil customs, the haunting 3″ tall piece has constructed with multiple hand cast resin parts, featuring magnetic articulation in the arms as well as a separately cast “plague” mask. Available in 3 blind-bagged colorways – each coming complete with a small neon pink accessory – the Plague Oracles will be touching down in the Daniel Yu store this Friday, February 13th at 9pm Eastern time for an undisclosed sum… But that’s not all! Joining the Oracles, Daniel will also be unleashing the first retail version of the anthropomorphic Darwin. Originally released as a one-off alongside Daniel’s entry into Might Jaxx’s recent Dissected Gingerbread Man show, the 3″ figure will be dropping in a “Space Ace” colorway, coming with a selection of white and blue mixed resin parts. It would appear that the next round of Medicom Toy‘s Vinyl Artist Gacha will be dropping soon, as Mirock Toy reveal their entry into the ongoing sofubi mini series, the “OTA scaled” Mirocku Maru! As with previous releases, the stunning mecha-diety features a 2.5″ tall 2-part design, coming in a selection of 5 randomly assorted colorways for just 463yen ($4) a piece (TBC). Whilst an exact release date for the little guys is still to be confirmed, we’re guessing they’ll be up for grabs in the next batch of Medicom releases later this month…

The Disarticulators and Disart ToyLabs have teamed up with none other than Joe Whiteford for a whole slew of custom releases that’ll be dropping throughout the year, the first coming in the form of these absolutely stunning Rotten Tomato Balls! Designed by Triclops, sculpted by Zectron and produced in resin by Tru:Tek, the pair of 3″ wide figures have been treated to Joe’s meticulous blend of pin-point detailing and grim, decomposing colors. Whilst one of the balls is sadly already called for, Joe has stated that the other will be making an appearance in his store at some point later in the week. Missed out on Deku the Buster’s second release a couple of weeks back? Then you’ll be glad to know that the latest colorway of Uky Daydreamer‘s astronaut sofubi will be making a reappearance via the Jungle store today (2/11)! Standing at 4.7″ – around twice the size of Uky’s usual mini output – and coming with 3 points of articulation plus removable helmet, the gorgeous figure has been treated to a life-like mix of red sprays, washes and dry-brushed weathered detailing on a jet black vinyl.
