Blackbook Toy have teamed up with rock band Suicidal Tendencies for the return of the S”K”UM-kun sofubi! Created as the mascot for the now defunct toy shop ZacPac back in 2011, the figure – loosely based on ST frontman Mike Muir – has been resurrected by Blackbook with a number of interesting refinements in tow, including new breast and back logo designs, hands that now sit behind the figure signing “SxTx”, plus the return of the embroidered mini cap- now an official, 4 1/4 New Era 59FIFTY! Making it’s return at Designer Con 2014 booth #504 this weekend in the pictured “Cyco Blue” colorway, S”K”UM-kun is set to come packed in a custom drawstring bag for just $120 each. Any leftovers will be heading to the Blackbook store on November 14th at Midnight Japan time…
MAN-E-NEWS// Paul Kaiju x MVH at Designer Con 2014…
Not to be outdone by last year’s epic selection showing at Designer Con, Paul Kaiju has revealed that he’ll be teaming up with Rich over at Mutant Vinyl Hardcore for yet another incredible turn out of new figures, painted runs and one-offs! Featuring a new Space Ree, Fungus Boxer Ree, Jinxman, Micro Goons, unpainted Gobocon sets, and our favourite, the double-headed Mockbat customs, releases for all figures will follow a similar template to last time, whereby interested parties will be able to obtain free lottery tickets at the PK x MVH booth (#610) on Saturday, November 8th and Sunday, November 9th for drawings across both days. Teaming up with famed knock-off catalogers Bootleg Bart, Manny X over at Patrullax is proud to present his latest custom action figure, Black Bart with Gold Chain! Booted directly from the original 1989 Playmates action figure, the 3″ tall piece pays homage to the classic rip-off designs of the 90’s, coming cast in a brown resin, hand painted in a mix of contrasting neons, and packed on a custom blistered card back complete with gold chain accessory. Unfortunately selling out in the Bootleg Bart store last night before we could even get a post up, those who missed out will be glad to know that more versions are planned for release very soon…

As promised yesterday, we bring you the second daily release in Uamou‘s ongoing “Return to Black” promotion this week, the All-Black Skull Uamou! A figure that has been part of the Uamou catalogue for quite some time, the 3″ tall sugar-skull inspired design finally sees it first release in a glossy black vinyl, beautifully offset by a meticulous white skeleton paint job. Currently up for grabs in limited supplies through the Uamou Atelier store and online right here, the All-Black Skull Uamou have been priced at just 2,500yen ($22) each plus shipping. Following yesterday’s Infected Dokuwashi reveal, the guys over at DKE Toys has just unveiled yet another Designer Con 2014 exclusive from Scott Wilkowski, the Infected Young Gohst! Taking on FERG‘s hugely popular sofubi mini, the 3″ tall figures feature internal skeletons sculpted by Scott that have been embedded in a translucent double resin cast. As with the Dokuwashis, these little guys will be up for grabs in 2 different colorways; smoke with pale green bones and light blue with grey bones, both of which have been limited to just 25 pieces priced at $70 each. Having delved into the world of 80’s NES game Pro Wrestling last year with a custom bootleg interpretation of protagonist Amazon, Tyler Ham aka HamFX is set to return with an all-new figure taken from the game, the mighty Starman! One of our most fondly remembered characters from the iconic brawler, the pink lycra donning fighter has been digitally sculpted by Tyler this time around, standing at around 3.75″ tall – in scale with Amazon – and coming with articulation in the arms and legs. Recently teased as a near-finished prototype (above), we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a debut release before the year is out…

Having seen continued success with their Mini Cheestroyer sofubi, Bad Teeth Comics have teamed up with none other than Eric Nilla for a bite-sized keshi version of the burger-headed kaiju! Standing at little over 2″ tall, the little guy has been hand sculpted by Eric based on the original comic book design, coming cast in a keshi-style rubber and coming complete with a fully removable and interchangeable shell. Due to be making it’s debut at the Eric Nilla x Fred Marinello DCon 2014 booth (#1126) this weekend in a selection of different solid, mixed and marbled colorways, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for an official online release soon…

Aside from playing host to works from a number of different artists, SLAVExONE‘s Designer Con 2014 booth (#1130) is set to be full to the brim with micro-runs, one-offs and unpainted releases of his very own Gero creation! “Early Bird” Unpainted Marble Geros// Limited to a run of just 4 pieces – 2 of which will be offered up at the start of the con on both Saturday and Sunday – these guys come in a stunning tiger stripe-style white and black marbled soft vinyl. Coming packed with custom made tag, the Unpainted Marble Geros have been priced at a super-cheap $25 each.
Gero from the Black Lagoon// A loving tribute to one of horror’s most iconic monsters, this micro-run of 3 Geros feature the webbed arms from Frank Mysterio’s Anticristo 666 figure, coming with a subtle mix of green sprays and black, brown and white brushed detailing. Pricing is still to be confirmed.
The Geronauts// A micro-run created by none other than Hellopike, these Micronauts themed Geros are available in 2 colorways that perfectly mimic the classic 70’s toy line; a trans blue with gold detailing and a clear with metallic teal- both of which have been finished with the all-important chrome head. Limited to just 3 in each color, pricing on these is also still to be confirmed.
Various One-Off Gero Customs// Alongside the 3 main releases, SLAVExONE will also be offering up a selection of one-off customs from a number of different artists from across kaiju and sofubi. Whilst the list of contributors is still to be confirmed, we know that at least Mutant Vinyl Hardcore have contributed a piece, so who knows what else may be in-store! Joining the previously posted Lab Mice mash-ups, Japanese apparel brand Punk Drunkers have just revealed another 2 exclusives they’ll have on offer at Designer Con 2014 this weekend, the PD Riders and White Troopers! Featuring both RealxHead’s adult Chaos Man and Chaos Trooper bodies coupled with the Punk Drunkers mascot head, the Riders have been treated to a plethora of classic metallic/neon sprays and a black neck scarf, whilst the Troopers, a subtle black rub that’s accompanied by an all-black arm attachment. Word on pricing and edition size isn’t likely to be disclosed until the vent, so be sure to make the Punk Drunkers booth your primary target to be in with a chance of bagging these awesome figures!

It’s been a long time in coming, but the “Hungry Hungry Hordak” figure from Brutherford Industries has finally seen an artist proof release! Featuring as part of our very own Tru:Tek’s debut mini figure series H.U.S.T.L.E way back in 2012 (check it here if you haven’t already!), the 2″ tall M.U.S.C.L.E-style figure was designed and digitally sculpted by Brutherford, coming cast up by Tru:Tek in a keshi-style rubber. Available in an exclusive lime green colorway for the release, each figure comes packed with a custom header featuring the original HHH art for just $15 plus shipping. Found in the Brutherford Industries store right here alongside a whole host of other new stock, supplies of the figure are super-limited, so be sure to head on over ASAP to avoid disappointment!

It’s been a while since we last heard anything from Le Merde and Kiyoka Ikeda’s Misty Fog Toys, so it came with great pleasure over the weekend to find that they’ll be hitting up Designer Con 2014 with an all-new figure… Bronco Willis! Featuring the same arm and leg sculpts as the previously released Mega Junktion, the 9″ tall figure comes with a brand new torso and ape-like head. Due to go on sale at the event this weekend (11/8-11/9), it would appear that a number of one-off mixed part offerings will be up for grabs, each coming complete with an alternate Mega Junktion head plus both light sabre and ray gun accessories. Kit-bashed from a variety of “vintage plastic artefacts from American culture”, the 3.75″ tall creation has been recast in resin, coming in a mix of contrasting neon purple, green and orange parts. Fitted with custom 1/4″ pegs that introduce both articulation and interchangeability with both past and future releases, ZRK has once again been packed in the signature GPT display box, complete with a UV reactive, 2 color screen printed backing card. Featuring an internal resin skeleton hand crafted by the “Infected” master Scott Wilkowski, the classic Super7 figure has been double cast in 2 translucent colorways this time around, a gorgeous light blue and pink. Celebrating the most classic of non-colors with a special “Return to Black” promotion this week, the guys over at Uamou are proud to present the first of a series of daily releases, the “All-Black” Bastard! Having made appearances as part of Uamou’s various exclusive releases recently, the 3″ tall sofubi mini is finally available to the general public in glossy black vinyl, with limited runs of both painted and unpainted currently up for grabs. Located in Uamou’s Atelier store and online right here, the All-Black Bastards have been priced at just 2,00yen ($18) and 1,800yen ($17) respectively… Look out for the next “Return to Black” release tomorrow!
But that’s not all… On top of the “Return to Black” promotion, Uamou have begun to share some of the various exclusives they’ll be bringing along to Designer Con 2014 this weekend! Designed by PopSoda and sculpted by RESTORE’s Abe Junnokai, the beautifully realised chameleon stands upright at just under 8″, coming complete with 10 separate parts and 7 points of articulation. Produced in an unpainted “Ghost” GID vinyl this time around, the figure has been decked out in a beautiful hand crafted kimono and finished with a Debris Japan neck charm from RESTORE. Having teased the little guys on Instagram over the past couple of months, Krotpong is proud to finally unveil his upcoming series of sofubi minis in full… introducing The Homunculords! Standing around 2.5″-3″ each, the set of 5 finger puppet-style figures all have their own unique – albeit stomach churning – feel, taking elements from right across pop culture, horror and neo-kaiju to devastating effect. Currently undergoing full soft vinyl production over in Japan courtesy of Velocitron, we’re told to expect an initial run in either flesh and/or GID in the not too distant future. Side-stepping their usual abstract-like minis, UkyDayDreamer has just unveiled an altogether more realistic addition to their already brimming line of sofubi, proudly presenting Deku the Buster! Standing at a much taller 4.7″ and coming with 3 points of articulation plus removable helmet, the Japanese astronaut has been treated to a life-like mix of sprays, washes and stunning weathered detailing. Making it’s debut in the pictured cream/red colorway at both Design Fiesta 40 (booth i-19) and Designer Con 2014 next weekend (11/8-11/9), pricing and edition sizes for the figure are still to be confirmed… Here’s hoping for an online release soon after!
