MAN-E-NEWS// The exclusive Min-E-Face comic strip from Bigmantoys!

In celebration of the release of our very first H.U.S.T.L.E 2 pack tomorrow (check it out here), we are proud to present an exclusive comic strip from our good friend Lee over at Bigmantoys, featuring the series’ main protagonist, the mighty Min-E-Face! Before you take a look, we suggest giving Min-E’s brief backstory a read to get you in the mood…

Cast aside from the MAN-E family at birth due to a rare defect that left him without the use of two of his faces, Min-E was kindly taken in by an NJPW wrestler who nurtured the otherworldly fighting skill that laid dormant inside the young boy. Sworn enemy of the Skworm (his estranged family’s closest ally), MIN-E is about to embark on his biggest quest yet- to rid the world once and for all of these putrid, sickly creatures and gain revenge on the family that once left him for dead!”

The ‘Ed Skworm Vs. Min-E-Face 2 pack will be touching down in both “Toxic Green” and “Ultra Violet” editions on the Man-E-Store tomorrow (October 5th) at 9pm London time for just $25 per set. Stay tuned for our mega H.U.S.T.L.E post before the drop, featuring more backstories and exclusive shots, plus an exclusive look at the upcoming “Skworm Hunter” 3 pack…

Big thanks to Bigmantoys for the amazing artwork!

MAN-E-NEWS// Peter Kato’s NYCC exclusives: Part 1…

As mentioned in our previous post a few weeks back, legendary resin and comic artist Peter Kato had taken a brief step back from production to work on a whole new line of figures, all of which will be making their debut at NYCC next week! With so many different new faces on offer, Peter has kindly broken down the reveals into 3 parts, the first of which we bring you today…

The Tako-Cubes// One of the main reasons Peter has been away so long is his recent shift in medium, moving from traditional materials such as clay and wax to high end 3D software including Maya and Zbrush. After two and a half months of intense studying, Peter finally took the plunge in creating his first digital figure, the end result coming in the form of the beautiful Tako Cubes… 3D printed, hand cast and painted by Peter in an initial batch of Red and Pink colourways, the adorable minis will be available at the Onell Design booth (#3216) for an introductory price of just $10 each. Expect more to follow on the PeterKato store for $15 plus shipping soon!

Here Peter explains a bit about the background behind the figure…

“The Tako Cubes are the grunts of this invading space army( which I’m calling Space Army…not very complicated) I had always wanted to work on. I was inspired by the Covenant Grunts from the video game Halo( which I play religiously with my friends on Fringe Friday nights). Small & tough but not too bright they are commonly used as cannon fodder in battles. They are more dangerous in numbers, large numbers… I always imagined they would come down as one single giant cube , which then breaks up into other mini cubes and then their head and appendages pop out from the individual cubes. Their target is to capture Little Pea, the sleeping alien baby inside Turtle Tetsujins torso…”

[The Pink Teknots] are well rounded infantry capable of tasks ranging from ship navigations, communications and artillery . Not as physically strong as other taco-cubes but possess a very adaptable intelligence.

[The Red Guards] are the elite commandoes which are experts in specialized security and wpns/tactics. They are a bit tougher than the average taco-cubes.

The Tako Heads// Next up comes Peter’s exclusive collaboration with Onell Design, the Tako Heads… Featuring the same head designs as the previously mentioned Tako Cubes, each has been cast with a Glyos compatible peg for use with the entire Glyos system. Created to honour Matt Doughty and Onell’s help in getting Peter into the industry, the awesome pieces are due to come mainly in a solid blue, with a few other tints thrown in for good measure… Joining a selection of casts from the previous Onell NYCC collaboration, the Tako Heads will be available for just $5 a piece…

The Rampage Toys x Peter Kato Super Pachi Micro Cupcake Kaiju!// Last but by no means least, Peter is proud to present his latest collaboration with Rampage Toys, the Super Pachi Micro Cupcake Kaiju! The latest in Rampage’s long line of cupcake themed characters, the figure has been sculpted by Jon Malmstedt and hand cast by Peter in a huge selection of clear tinted resins. Little is known about how these little guys will be finished, so be sure to keep track of the Rampage twitter feed for more reveals soon!

We’ll be bringing you part 2 of Peter’s NYCC reveal tomorrow…

BACKSTORYS:

MIN-E-FACE// Cast aside from the MAN-E family at birth due to a rare defect that left him without the use of two of his faces, Min-E was kindly taken in by an NJPW wrestler who nurtured the otherworldly fighting skill that laid dormant inside the young boy. Sworn enemy of the Skworm (his estranged family’s closest ally), MIN-E is about to embark on his biggest quest yet- to rid the world once and for all of these putrid, sickly creatures and gain revenge on the family that once left him for dead!

‘ED SKWORM// Although one of the smallest species of [sick worm], the ‘Ed Skworm is widely known as the most brutal. Reported to be able to ingest a whole human head within 6.66 seconds, natives of the Stench (the Skworm’s most common hunting ground) have taken to wearing ‘Pepto-dysmal’ charms, the sorry beast’s only weakness, in a bid to stay alive. With a penchant for midget Japanese Pro wrestlers, our hero Min-E will have to watch his back or he’ll be losing the use of three faces instead of two!

MAN-E-NEWS// The Clinton Yaws x Argonaut Resins’ NYCC Tuttz custom…

Eric Nocella kindly shares details of the latest piece to feature at the hallowed Argonaut Resins NYCC booth, the “Cleopatra” 8″ Tuttz custom from Clinton Yaws! Stay tuned for more Argonaut Resins exclusives soon!

Shipping is still set for around late November/early December for early Kickstarter adoptees, whilst a full release looks likely at the start of 2012… Whilst on the subject of OMFG, Gaspar has also announced yet another exclusive colourway for series one, the incredible “Stealth” edition. Colour changing from black to clear, the figures will be made available the Onell Design booth (3216) and at Big Kev’s Geek Stuff booth (3261) for $10 a set. Can’t make it to the con? MAN-E-NEWS// A trio of releases from Killer Bootlegs…

Hot off the heels of last month’s ingenious “Man Inside the Mask” bootleg (find out more here), Peter Goral over at Killer Bootlegs is proud to present a trifecta of must-have resins that will be hitting the KB store this month! Here’s a quick rundown of the swag that’ll be on offer…

Vintage Art-Too feat. Hoakser// Working alongside long-time Man-E-Toys friend Hoakser, Killer Bootlegs will be releasing a new “Vintage” edition of the highly sought after “Art-Too” custom bootleg. Featuring a bootlegged vintage R2D2 with mounted spray cap, the figure has painted in the standard Krylon red and white, coming complete with a faux “Killer” Krylon sticker designed by Crush Entity. Topped off with header and character sticker art from the more than capable hands of Hoaker, “Vintage” Art-Too will be hitting the Killer Bootlegs store at some point next week… Oh, and be sure to look out for the 10 “shake and rattle” chase figures too!

Frankenfett// Due to launch the following week is the much talked about “Frankenfett”… Created using the same mould as the recent Jeremy Bulloch (Man Inside the Mask) bootleg, the decapitated figure has been cast in black, coming with GID hands and head from a vintage Remco “Universal Monsters” Frankenstein from the 80’s. Unlike Art-Too, Frankenfett will instead be offered up for pre-order on the Killer Bootlegs store (demand has been off the charts!) and will only be available in strictly limited numbers. A “chase” variant will be also released at random, featuring a reverse of the general release bootleg (GID body, with a black head and hands). Packaging will be done up in usual KB style, with each figure coming poly-bagged with a kick ass custom header card…

Killer Kaiju// Last, but by no means least, “Killer Kaiju” is Peter’s take on Japanese kaiju… albiet in 3.75″ action figure form! Kit-bashed from a vintage MOTU Webstor figure, Barbie’s little sister Skipper doll, a Madame Alexander flying monkey from The Wizard of Oz, and arms from a Kenner “Jurasic Park” T-rex, “Killer Kaiju” has been airbrushed with Monster Kolor paint and will be available in two separate offerings… Initially available poly-bagged with a Japanese movie poster style header card, Killer Bootlegs will also be featuring the figure in a carded “Monster Mash” 2 pack, with another kaiju style figure designed, molded, and cast by Butch Adams of Butcherbrand out in California. The poly-bagged version will be made available in a variety of color options and will drop the 3rd week in October, whilst  the collaborative carded version is still in the final stages of development and will be released very soon… Stay tuned for a full reveal over the coming weeks!

MAN-E-NEWS// The Halloween Dee-Dee NYCC customs from UME Toys…

Joining the huge selection of resins we’ve previously posted, Richard Page over at UME Toys will be squeezing in another 2 awesome customs into his already bulging suitcase for NYCC next week… the Halloween inspired Dee-Dees! Taking the much loved ice cream mini, Rich has gone for two beautifully simple designs, the mustachioed Little Devil, and the absolutely stunning weathered zombie. No news as to which booth they’ll be available at, but we’re guessing they’ll be making an appearance at either Tenacious Toys (#3121) on Saturday, or Kev’s Geek Stuff (#3261) on Sunday. Stay tuned for more exclusive UME Toys “NYCC” news (including a possible Man-E-Toys collab) soon!
